Quantitative Singularity Theory for Random Polynomials [PDF]
Motivated by Hilbert's 16th problem we discuss the probabilities of topological features of a system of random homogeneous polynomials. The distribution for the polynomials is the Kostlan distribution.

Confinement in (1 + 1) dimensions: a holographic perspective from I-branes
In this paper we holographically study the strongly coupled dynamics of the field theory on I-branes (D5 branes intersecting on a line). In this regime, the field theory becomes (2 + 1) dimensional with 16 supercharges.

Analysis and design of nonlinear resonances via singularity theory [PDF]
Bifurcation theory and continuation methods are well-established tools for the analysis of nonlinear mechanical systems subject to periodic forcing. We illustrate the added value and the complementary information provided by singularity theory with one ...

Loop Quantum Black Hole Extensions Within the Improved Dynamics
We continue our investigation of an improved quantization scheme for spherically symmetric loop quantum gravity. We find that in the region where the black hole singularity appears in the classical theory, the quantum theory contains semi-classical ...

Cosmological theory without singularities [PDF]
A theory of gravitation is constructed in which all homogeneous and isotropic solutions are nonsingular, and in which all curvature invariants are bounded. All solutions for which curvature invariants approach their limiting values approach de Sitter space. The action for this theory is obtained by a higher derivative modification of Einstein's theory.

T T ¯ $$ T\overline{T} $$ , black holes and negative strings
String theory on AdS3 has a solvable single-trace irrelevant deformation that is closely related to T T ¯ $$ T\overline{T} $$ . For one sign of the coupling, it leads to an asymptotically linear dilaton spacetime, and a corresponding Hagedorn spectrum ...

Singularity resolution depends on the clock [PDF]
We study the quantum cosmology of a flat Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker Universe filled with a (free) massless scalar field and a perfect fluid that represents radiation or a cosmological constant whose value is not fixed by the action, as in ...

Modeling the Modulation of Neuronal Bursting: A Singularity Theory Approach [PDF]
Exploiting the specific structure of neuron conductance-based models, the paper investigates the mathematical modeling of neuronal bursting modulation. The proposed approach combines singularity theory and geometric singular perturbations to capture the ...

Singularity Properties of Timelike Sweeping Surface in Minkowski 3-Space
In this paper, we give the parametric equation of the Bishop frame for a timelike sweeping surface with a unit speed timelike curve in Minkowski 3-space.

Articulating assemblage theory for salient urban atmospheres in children’s environments
In using the assemblage theory, this article focuses on the concepts of “city singularity” and “urban atmospheres” in designing better places for children.
