Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Seats and the City: Sitting as an Idle Act in Ankara Neighbourhoods
This paper re-evaluates the relationship between walking and idleness in evolving urban contexts, proposing that sitting can be understood as a new form of idleness in response to the accelerating speed of urban routines. Drawing on the established urban

Independent and combined associations of sugar-sweetened beverage consumption, TV viewing, and physical activity with severe depressive symptoms among 59,402 adults [PDF]
Objective: Our aim was to analyze the association between sugar-sweetened beverage consumption and depressive symptoms, as well as the extent to which TV viewing and physical activity moderate this association. Methods: We used cross-sectional data from

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Objectives: This scoping review summarizes and evaluates evidence from Japan on prospective relationships of sedentary behavior (too much sitting, as distinct from too little physical activity) with health outcomes, forming the basis for Japan’s new ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Using transcranial doppler ultrasonography (TCD) to measure the presence or absence of abnormalities in patent foramen ovale (PFO) is more effective than transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) because it is simple, inexpensive, and non-invasive. Thus, it

Office Work Chairs – Research of Deformations and Comfort Index [PDF]
Construction of the seat and back of the office chair, as an actual object of the human working environment, is important in its final design since these are the elements that are in a direct and close contact with human body. The sitting position is the
