Marriage and Its Representations in Classical Hollywood Comedy (19341945) : Stanley Cavell, the Concept of Skepticism and Kierkegaards Legacy

open access: yesJournal for Religion, Film and Media, 2018
This article explores the questions of marriage and divorce as discussed by Stanley Cavell in his study of classical Hollywood comedies, in which he considered a popular subgenre of the American comedy of the thirties and forties that he dubbed the ...

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

A Material‐Agnostic Strategy for Uniform Patterning of Conjugated Polymers Unveils the True Role of Porosity in Organic Electrochemical Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A generalizable strategy for fabricating regular porous, chemically intact conjugated polymer channels reveals how porosity benefits organic electrochemical transistors. Composition‐dependent performance enhancement is linked to charge carrier mobility, volumetric capacitance, and effective doped volume.

Skeptical hypotheses and moral skepticism [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Philosophy, 2013
Moral skeptics maintain that we do not have moral knowledge. Traditionally they haven't argued via skeptical hypotheses like those provided by perceptual skeptics about the external world, such as Descartes' deceiving demon. But some believe this can be done by appealing to hypotheses like moral nihilism.

Intelligent Orthopedics: Machine Learning in Diagnosis of Bone Disease, Implants, and Bone Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Efficient recovery from traumatic or degenerative diseases is a great challenge, even after all the advancements in bone and cartilage regeneration. Machine learning (ML) algorithms have presented opportunities to enhance these aspects by accurately analyzing imaging data.

Thomas Reid’s Engagement with Skeptics and Skepticism

open access: yes, 2018
Rene van Woudenberg Engagement with skeptical problems, as a means of resisting skepticism, may take various forms. First, one may try to convince skeptics that their skeptical conclusion is false. Second, one may try to identify certain assumptions underlying the skeptical argument that may initially seem unobjectionable but that cannot withstand ...

Resolving Nanoscale Heterogeneities in Lead Halide Perovskites Through Low‐Dose Concurrent 4D‐STEM‐EDX Mapping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Mixed‐cation lead mixed‐halide perovskites suffer from structural instabilities linked to nanoscale heterogeneity. To probe this non‐destructively, a low‐dose, concurrent 4D‐STEM and EDX methodology has been developed. Examining a (FA0.83Cs0.17)Pb(I0.8Br0.2)3 film revealed a complex mosaic of coexisting crystal structures. Crucially, local deficiencies

Wittgenstein and Poetry: A Reading of Czeslaw Milosz’s “Realism”

open access: yesPhilosophies
In this paper I hope to cast light on Wittgenstein enigmatic remark, “one should really only create philosophy poetically”. I discuss Wittgenstein’s ambition to overcome metaphysics by way of an appeal to ordinary language.
