Stimulatory effects of needling and plasma on collagen synthesis in SKH-1 hairless mice

Abstract In this study, we demonstrate an effective skin therapy device based on the plasma generated nitric oxide (NO) and needling techniques. The NO generator was constructed based on the dielectric barrier discharge plasma and combined with a commercial needling device.

Dietary Lutein/Zeaxanthin Partially Reduces Photoaging and Photocarcinogenesis in Chronically UVB-Irradiated Skh-1 Hairless Mice

Lutein and zeaxanthin are xanthophyll carotenoids with potent antioxidant properties protecting the skin from acute photodamage. This study extended the investigation to chronic photodamage and photocarcinogenesis. Mice received either a lutein/zeaxanthin-supplemented diet or a standard nonsupplemented diet.

AbstractCyclooxygenase‐2 (COX‐2) inhibition can inhibit UVB‐induced carcinogenesis in the skin. We have shown that COX‐2 is overexpressed in UVB‐induced squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs). Celecoxib, a specific inhibitor of COX‐2, blocks UVB‐induced papillomas and carcinomas in murine skin.
