Transcriptional and functional regulation of cell cycle and UV response by PPARβ in human skin epidermal cells

UV exposure can induce DNA damage and skin cancer in humans. PPARβ is a druggable transcription factor that regulates cell cycle and UV response. PPARβ downregulation or pharmacological inhibition in human epithelial skin cells in vitro, causes cell cycle arrest at G2/M phase, and reduces proliferation.
