Skin cancer and immunosuppression [PDF]
All immunosuppressive treatments, either pharmacological or physical, have the potential to impair the skin immune system network of cells and cytokines, thus leading to an increased incidence of skin cancer. Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

TRIM24 and TRIM28 are androgen receptor (AR) coregulators which exhibit increased expression with cancer progression. Both TRIM24 and TRIM28 combine to influence the response of castrate‐resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells to AR inhibitors by mediating AR signalling, regulation of MYC and upregulating VEGF to promote angiogenesis. Castrate‐resistant

Trends in the lifetime risk of developing cancer in Great Britain: comparison of risk for those born from 1930 to 1960 [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Typically, lifetime risk is calculated by the period method using current risks at different ages. Here, we estimate the probability of being diagnosed with cancer for individuals born in a given year, by estimating future risks as the cohort
