Effect of permeation enhancers and organic acids on the skin permeation of indapamide
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2008The aim of present study was to investigate the transdermal properties of indapamide and to explore the efficacy of various permeation enhancers and organic acids with regard to the percutaneous absorption of indapamide. Permeation experiments were performed in vitro, using rat abdominal skin as a barrier. In the permeation studies, 2-chamber diffusion

SMGA gels for the skin permeation of haloperidol
Journal of Controlled Release, 2005Small molecule gelling agent (SMGA) gels were developed using the gelator GP-1 in the solvents, namely, isostearyl alcohol (ISA) and propylene glycol (PG), to deliver haloperidol through the skin. The concentrations of the drug, haloperidol, the enhancer, farnesol and the gelator, GP-1 are 3 mg/ml, 5% (w/v) and 5% (w/v), respectively.

Permeation of Steroids through Human Skin
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1995The permeabilities of many steroids through human skin have been previously measured and reported in the literature. Analysis of these data reveals that significant discrepancies exist between the measurements of Scheuplein et al. and those of other groups.

In Vitro–In Vivo Correlation in Skin Permeation
Pharmaceutical Research, 2013In vitro skin permeation studies have been used extensively in the development and optimisation of delivery of actives in vivo. However, there are few reported correlations of such in vitro studies with in vivo data. The aim of this study was to investigate the skin permeation of a model active, niacinamide, both in vitro and in vivo.Conventional ...

In vitro permeation of levothyroxine across the skin
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2008The aim of this work was to investigate the in vitro transdermal permeation characteristics of sodium levothyroxine, in view of its topical application. Permeation experiments were performed in vitro, using rabbit ear skin as barrier. At the end of the experiments levothyroxine retained in the skin was extracted and quantified by HPLC. The formulations

A Random Walk Model of Skin Permeation
Risk Analysis, 2002A new mathematical model for permeability of chemicals in aqueous vehicle through skin is presented. The rationale for this model is to represent diffusion by its fundamental molecular mechanism, i.e., random thermal motion. Diffusion is modeled as a two‐dimensional random walk through the biphasic (lipid and corneocyte) stratum corneum (SC).

Exploration of skin permeation mechanism of frusemide with proniosomes
Die Pharmazie, 2009The present study explored the transdermal permeation enhancing mechanism of non-ionic surfactant vesicles (proniosomes) of frusemide across rat skin. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), activation energy and histological examination were carried out to study the mode of action of the optimized ...

HPTLC method to study skin permeation of acylovir
Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2000A new simple, rapid and selective high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) method is developed for the quantitation of acyclovir during in vitro skin permeation studies. Separation of guinea pig skin proteins and acyclovir was achieved by employing a mobile phase consisting of chloroform-methanol-ammonia (15:9:4, v/v/v) on precoated silica ...
