Laser therapy and gene expression in skin rejuvenation

open access: yes, 2023
Laser therapy, both ablative and non-ablative, plays an important role in skin rejuvenation, initiating extracellular matrix breakdown and promoting the formation of a structured matrix with sustained collagen stimulation. Ablative lasers, in particular,

Partial FAK suppression promotes tumor growth, an effect reversed by macrophage p110δ PI3K inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Partial inhibition of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) can paradoxically promote tumor growth, rather than simply producing a weaker antitumor effect than that observed with strong FAK suppression. In breast cancer and melanoma models, targeting p110δ PI3K, particularly in macrophages, counteracted these tumor‐promoting effects, highlighting the importance ...

Mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities of the ribotoxic stress response in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer cells' high translational demand creates opportunities to therapeutically target ribosome function. Ribosome stalling and collisions activate ZAKα and the ribotoxic stress response (RSR), which can trigger rapid, p53‐independent apoptosis in cancer.

Exploring the synergistic effects of poly-l-lactic acid (Sculptra®) and retinoic acid (tretinoin) in facial rejuvenation treatment for age-related skin laxity

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
To investigate the synergistic effects of Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) and Retinoic Acid (RA) on age-related skin relaxation in the treatment of facial rejuvenation. 120 patients received facial rejuvenation treatment at Sin-An Cosmetic Clinic Hospital from

Regulation of the lncRNA NEAT1 by p53‐ΔNp63 crosstalk modulates the DNA damage response and therapeutic efficacy in HNSCC

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) p53 and p63 exert opposite roles on the transcription regulation of the lncRNA NEAT1. Under basal conditions, p53 levels are low and p63 represses NEAT1 expression. Upon genotoxic stress, p53 is rapidly induced, displacing p63 from the NEAT1 promoter leading to NEAT1 transcriptional activation and ...

Paclitaxel induces NM2‐dependent cellular contraction through GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and RhoA/ROCK activation in cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Taxanes are widely used chemotherapeutics whose effects on cellular mechanics remain poorly understood. We show that paclitaxel induces rapid cellular contraction by promoting GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and non‐muscle myosin II activation through RhoA/ROCK.

Transcriptomic analysis of human skin wound healing and rejuvenation following ablative fractional laser treatment.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Ablative fractional laser treatment is considered the gold standard for skin rejuvenation. In order to understand how fractional laser works to rejuvenate skin, we performed microarray profiling on skin biopsies to identify temporal and dose-response ...
