Can a sociolinguistic perspective of Second Language Acquisition solve ‘the longstanding human curiosity’ of learning languages? [PDF]

open access: yesTraining, Language and Culture, 2019
The present paper looks into SLA research which has been overwhelmed with multitude of competing theories, thus making it plausible that none of them alone can explain the complex issue to a satisfying extent.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

A Framework for Multi-level SLA Management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) represent an architectural shift for building business applications based on loosely-coupled services. In a multi-layered SOA environment the exact conditions under which services are to be delivered can be formally ...

A hierarchical self-healing SLA for cloud computing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The service level agreement (SLA) is a mutual contract between the service provider and consumer which determines the agreed service level objective (SLO). The common SLA is a plain documental agreement without any relation to other dependent SLAs during

Study of the regenerative capacity of neuromuscular junctions in a mouse model of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: CXCR4 as a possible therapeutic target [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023

Support‐Controlled Reaction Pathways via Dynamic Sulfur‐Mediated Interfaces for Selective Urea Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfur‐doped graphitized carbon nanofibers act as adaptive catalyst–support platforms, enabling dynamic sulfur‐mediated reconstruction and strong metal–support interactions. This unique behavior enhances catalyst stability and controls reaction pathways, achieving highly selective urea oxidation (∼92% N2) coupled with efficient hydrogen evolution ...

The economic burden of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis for patients and families: a survey on out-of-pocket expenses and income loss in France

open access: yesOrphanet Journal of Rare Diseases
Introduction Most published economic studies about the burden of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) have measured direct and indirect costs but did not consider the perspective of patients and families.
