Prevalence and risk factors for postpartum depression and stress among mothers of preterm and low birthweight infants admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit in Accra, Ghana

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 169, Issue 1, Page 131-137, April 2025.
Abstract To determine the prevalence of postpartum depression (PPD) and postpartum stress (PPS) and identify associated risk factors among mothers of preterm and low birth weight (LBW) infants. We conducted a secondary analysis of data collected from 255 mothers with preterm and LBW infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Korle ...

Changes in the gut microbiome during fasting‐induced molting and its effects on gut–liver function

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
During fasting, harmful microbiota and metabolites rise, triggering intestinal injury and activation of the TGF‐β signaling pathway, which enhances intestinal stem cell proliferation. Concurrently, hepatic function declines, indicated by increased hepatic and serum bile acids and upregulation of the non‐classical bile acid synthesis pathway.

Genomic epidemiology and lineage‐specific risk stratification of tet(X4)‐mediated tigecycline resistance along the pork production chain: A One Health perspective

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Genome surveillance across a swine‐associated One Health continuum in China shows that slaughterhouses act as major enrichment nodes for tet(X4)‐mediated tigecycline resistance, driven by putative clonal transmission and stable plasmid backbones. Integrating global datasets enables lineage‐specific risk stratification, highlighting key control points ...

A spatiotemporal single‐cell atlas of porcine development reveals regulatory dynamics and cellular targets of domestication

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
This study presents a cross‐tissue, single‐cell/single‐nucleus transcriptomic atlas spanning from prenatal to postnatal developmental stages in pig, characterizing 83 distinct cell types from 252,033 cells. Through the construction of cross‐tissue transcriptional regulatory networks and pseudotime trajectories, we revealed that organogenesis is driven ...
