Sliding mode functional observers

2008 10th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision, 2008
In this paper the concept of sliding mode is introduced in the design of functional observers. Conditions for the existence of the observer are given. How to design the observer parameters are also shown. Under special circumstances the sliding mode functional observer proposed in this paper reduces to the Utkin state observer.

Sliding mode observers. Tutorial

Proceedings of 1995 34th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002
Discusses the problem of designing observers for state estimation using sliding modes. The theory and design principles are presented for linear and nonlinear systems. For linear systems the observers are developed using a block-observable form which is similar to a lower triangular matrix form. Compared with known approaches such observers have better

Decentralised Sliding Mode Observer-Based FDI

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
Robust decentralised fault detection and isolation (FDI) is considered in this paper. Firstly, a sliding mode observer is proposed. Then, a decentralised fault estimation strategy is proposed using the equivalent output error injection, and a decentralised reconstruction scheme follows by exploiting the structure of the uncertainty.

Fuzzy sliding mode controller design with fuzzy sliding mode observer

2000 26th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. IECON 2000. 2000 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Electronics, Control and Instrumentation. 21st Century Technologies and Industrial Opportunities (Cat. No.00CH37141), 2002
This paper addresses the design strategy of a decoupled fuzzy sliding mode controller and a fuzzy sliding mode observer on the basis of the Takagi-Sugeno's (T-S) fuzzy model. A class of fourth-order systems such as a cart-pole system could be well controlled and observed in both the pole hyperplane and the cart-hyperplane simultaneously by the proposed

Sliding mode observers for vehicle mode detection

Vehicle System Dynamics, 2005
This paper explores the use of sliding mode observers to detect the onset of potentially dangerous vehicle modes such as oversteer, understeer or split-μ braking. Provided these modes can be detected quickly enough, existing stability controllers can be engaged to ensure safe performance of the vehicle.

High-order sliding modes observation

2008 International Workshop on Variable Structure Systems, 2008
This is the first article providing robust exact finite-time observation, identification and fault detection of linear time-invariant systems satisfying the sufficient and necessary conditions of strong observability basing on high-order sliding-modes differentiation.

Sliding-Mode Observers

2007
The focus of much of the research in the area of control systems theory during the seventies and eighties addressed the issue of robustness - i.e., designing controllers with the ability to maintain stability and performance in the presence of discrepancies between the plant and model.

High order sliding modes observer

Proceedings of the 37th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. No.98CH36171), 2002
We first recall some definitions of the high order sliding mode in ideal and real cases. Secondly, on a simple example with simulations we show the application of these techniques to resolve the observation problem. After these, we generalise the high order observer design to the single output injection form.

Sliding mode observer for Switched Linear Systems

2011 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, 2011
This work is concerned with the design of an observer for Switched Linear Systems (SLS) subject to an unknown switching signal. The convergence of the proposed SLS observer is proved, based on observability results for SLS, for the following two cases.

Conventional Sliding Mode Observers

2014
The purpose of an observer is to estimate the unmeasurable states of a system based only on the measured outputs and inputs. It is essentially a mathematical replica of the system, driven by the input of the system together with a signal representing the difference between the measured system and observer outputs.
