Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Modeling the evolution of natural cliffs subject to weathering. 1, Limit analysis approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Retrogressive landsliding evolution of natural slopes subjected to weathering has been modeled by assuming Mohr-Coulomb material behavior and by using an analytical method.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Coupled effects of earthquake and rainfall on landslide susceptibility in non-tropical coastal areas: assessing governing mechanisms and innovative slope protection strategy

open access: yesDiscover Civil Engineering
Despite extensive research on landslides globally, there is a notable knowledge gap on mechanisms influenced by combined rainfall and earthquake events to induce landslides in non-tropical coastal areas, and how to mitigate such failures.

Three-dimensional limit equilibrium method for rock slopes by constructing normal stress distribution over sliding surface and its application

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The researches on the three-dimensional stability of rock slopes are of important theoretical significance and engineering application prospect. The conventional equivalent Mohr-Coulomb strength parameters used to analyze the stability of rock slopes ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Seepage-damage coupling study of the stability of water-filled dump slope

open access: yes, 2014
The stability of water-filled dump slope has been one significant geotechnical engineering problem that needs to be urgently resolved. The coupling effects of seepage and damage on the dump slope are critically important for stability analysis.
