Methods of Assessment and Clinical Relevance of QT Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The dependence on heart rate of the QT interval has been investigated for many years and several mathematical formulae have been proposed to describe the QT interval/heart rate (or QT interval/RR interval) relationship. While the most popular is Bazett’s

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Moduli spaces of coherent systems of small slope on algebraic curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Let $C$ be an algebraic curve of genus $g\ge2$. A coherent system on $C$ consists of a pair $(E,V)$, where $E$ is an algebraic vector bundle over $C$ of rank $n$ and degree $d$ and $V$ is a subspace of dimension $k$ of the space of sections of $E$.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

The characterization of the functional properties of three cold alkali extracted meat protein concentrates and the relationship between functional properties determined using model systems and the properties of an emulsion-type sausage in which they were incorporated : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masterate of Technology (Biotechnology) at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The feasibility of marketing three meat protein concentrates (MassMPC, MyoMPC and SarcoMPC) on the commercial protein market was studied. Solubility, heat gel strength, water binding and emulsification properties of these proteins were investigated under

Upsilon \bar BB$ Couplings, Slope of the Isgur-Wise Function and Improved Estimate of \boldmath{$V_{cb}$}}

open access: yes, 1994
We estimate the sum of the $\Upsilon \bar BB $ couplings using QCD Spectral Sum Rules (QSSR). Our result implies the phenomenological bound $\xi'(vv'=1) \geq -1.04$ for the slope of the Isgur-Wise function. An analytic estimate of the (physical) slope to

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Slope stability evaluation of Gneiss rock slopes using slope mass rating (SMR) and QSlope

open access: yesJournal of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy
One of the biggest problems in open pit mining is slope stability. The avoidance of slope stability problems depends on a comprehensive assessment of environmental and operational factors such as geology, climate, and mining activities. In the light of these considerations, slope geometries should be determined in accordance with engineering principles.
