AHNAK2 Promotes Migration, Invasion, and Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition in Lung Adenocarcinoma Cells via the TGF-β/Smad3 Pathway

open access: yesOncoTargets and Therapy, 2020
Purpose Lung adenocarcinoma is one of the common causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. AHNAKs are giant proteins, which are correlated with cell structure and migration, cardiac calcium channel signaling, and other processes.

Transcription Factor HOXC11 Drives Colorectal Cancer Progression and Metastasis via CAMK2A‐Dependent CXCL5 Upregulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
HOXC11 drives colorectal cancer progression by transcriptionally activating CAMK2A, which triggers NF‐κB–dependent CXCL5 upregulation. CXCL5–CXCR2 signaling further reinforces HOXC11 expression through the ERK1/2–SP1 axis, forming a prometastatic positive feedback loop that is effectively disrupted by combined CAMK2A and CXCR2 inhibition.

Localization of ανβ6 integrin-TGF-β1/Smad3, mTOR and PPARγ in experimental colorectal fibrosis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Histochemistry, 2013
A simultaneous action of several pro-fibrotic mediators appears relevant in the development of fibrosis. There are evidences that transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β)/Smad3 pathway forms with αvβ6 integrin, mammalian target of Rapamycin (mTOR) and ...

A pH‐Switchable Cerium Single‐Atom Enzyme for Peri‐Implantitis Therapy via JAK‐STAT Signaling Axis‐Mediated Macrophage Reprogramming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH‐switchable cerium single‐atom enzyme is developed for stage‐specific peri‐implantitis therapy. Acidic conditions trigger antibacterial peroxidase‐like activity, whereas neutral conditions activate an antioxidant superoxide dismutase ‐ and catalase ‐like enzymatic relay. This microenvironment‐adaptive catalytic strategy suppresses the IL‐6/JAK‐STAT

Investigating the mechanism by which SMAD3 induces PAX6 transcription to promote the development of non-small cell lung cancer

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2018
Background This study investigated the function of SMAD3 (SMAD family member 3) in regulating PAX6 (paired box 6) in non-small cell lung cancer. Methods First, qRT-PCR was employed to detect SMAD3 expression in cancer tissues along with normal tissues ...

The role of Smad2 and Smad3 in regulating homeostatic functions of fibroblasts in vitro and in adult mice.

open access: yesBiochimica et biophysica acta. Molecular cell research, 2020
The heart contains an abundant fibroblast population that may play a role in homeostasis, by maintaining the extracellular matrix (ECM) network, by regulating electrical impulse conduction, and by supporting survival and function of cardiomyocytes and ...

Dual‐Targeting Biomimetic Nanozymes Loaded Microneedle Patch Promotes Scarless Wound Healing Through Anti‐Inflammatory and Anti‐Fibrotic Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a dual‐targeting biomimetic nanozyme hybrid system (Cu‐CeO2@ABs‐FTP) and integrated it with HAMA hydrogel to fabricate a microneedle patch (CAF@MN). The patch promotes fibroblast‐mediated wound repair, targets macrophages to induce M2 polarization, and targets myofibroblasts to exert anti‐fibrotic effects, thereby enabling rapid ...

Klotho‐Derived Peptide 1 Protects against Acute Kidney Injury by Directly Targeting Mitochondrial ATAD3A

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers that KP1, a Klotho‐derived peptide, protects the kidney against acute kidney injury, a clinical syndrome with high morbidity and mortality. KP1 enters tubular epithelial cells via endocytosis, directly interacts with the mitochondrial ATAD3A/HIGD2A complex, thereby preventing cytochrome c release, and caspases activation, and ...

Review of the Molecular and Developmental Basis of Myhre Syndrome, Bench Research

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part C: Seminars in Medical Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Myhre syndrome (MS) is a connective‐tissue disorder within the acromelic dysplasia spectrum. It is characterized by congenital craniofacial, skeletal, cutaneous anomalies, respiratory, cardiovascular along with intellectual disability, deafness, and progressive fibrosis.
