Report on feeding ecology of small pelagic fish and their predators

2018
Feeding habits and trophic interactions are essential information in order to understand the functioning of marine food webs. Changes in the feeding habits or in prey quality or quantity may influence the body condition of the organisms and ultimately the growth and reproduction potential.

Present condition of small pelagic fishes in the black sea

2011
Recent data on the fat content and abundance of sprat and anchovies are considered here along with data related to sea temperatures and phytoplankton biomass. Findings showed that significant changes in fish conditions were strongly related to environmental factors.

Small pelagic fish from the Croatian fishing grounds

2001
A brif description of the small pelagic fish (Sardina pilchardus, Engraulis encrasicolus, Scomber scombrus and Spratus spratus) biological and population dynamics parameters is given. Data were taken from the Croatian fishing grounds of the Adriatic Sea.

Distribution And Abundance Of Small Pelagic Fish In Selected Scottish West

2003
No abstracts are to be cited without prior reference to the author.Little is know about the biology, distribution and abundance of the herring or sprat stocks in ICES Division VIa (N), especially for the juvenile stages. This paper forms part of a wider study to increase our understanding of these pelagic stocks.

Growth in small pelagic fishes and its implications in their population dynamics

2011
Growth of the two most important commercial species small pelagic fishes in Mediterranean (Engraulis encrasicolus and Sardina pilchardus) is reviewed in the various phase of the life history of these fishes. The impact of different assumptions regarding age determination and growth on natural mortality estimates and thus on population dynamics analysis
