Bounding surface constitutive model for soft soils considering characteristics of small-strain stiffness and its application in engineering

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The construction of an excavation pit induces complex loading-unloading stress paths in the surrounding soils, while the commonly used constitutive models are insufficient to reflect the over-consolidation and small-strain stiffness characteristics ...

Quantitative two-dimensional strain mapping of small core–shell FePt@Fe3O4 nanoparticles

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
We report a facile one-pot chemical synthesis of colloidal FePt@Fe _3 O _4 core–shell nanoparticles (NPs) with an average diameter of 8.7 ± 0.4 nm and determine their compositional morphology, microstructure, two-dimensional strain, and magnetic ...

Heterogeneity of the Abnormal Prion Protein (PrPSc) of the Chandler Scrapie Strain

open access: yesPathogens, 2013
The pathological prion protein, PrPSc, displays various sizes of aggregates. In this study, we investigated the conformation, aggregation stability and proteinase K (PK)-sensitivity of small and large PrPSc aggregates of mouse-adapted prion strains.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Small Strain Characteristics of Soils in Hualien, Taiwan

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 2000
The Hualien Large-Scale Seismic Test (HLSST) program is currently to investigating soil-structure interaction during large earthquakes in Hualien, a region in Taiwan of high seismicity. This paper summarizes the laboratory tests, including cyclic triaxial tests, conducted to obtain small strain characteristics of the soils for dynamic response analysis

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Coupled Effect of Nutritional Food Molecules and Lactobacillus reuteri Surface Protein Interaction on the Bacterial Gastrointestinal Tolerance

open access: yesFoods
Lactobacillus reuteri, which is present in fermented foods, can produce LPxTG motif proteins (LMPs) to help the strain resist gastrointestinal fluid environmental stress and enhance the adherence and colonizing properties.
