The age-metallicity relationship in the Small Magellanic Cloud periphery [PDF]
We present results from Washington CT1 photometry for eleven star fields located in the western outskirts of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), which cover angular distances to its centre from 2 up to 13 degrees (~ 2.2 - 13.8 kpc).

A 73‐Year‐Old Man With Several Years of Difficulty Climbing Stairs and Frequent Tripping
ABSTRACT A 73‐year‐old man presented with progressive weakness and atrophy predominantly affecting the distal finger flexors and quadriceps muscles. Electrophysiological studies demonstrated mixed myogenic and neurogenic features. Muscle MRI showed inflammatory changes, and muscle biopsy revealed granulomatous myositis with histologic features ...

Sliding mode control for high-precision motion of a piezostage [PDF]
In this paper, control of piezostage using sliding mode control (SMC) method is presented. Due to the fast dynamics of piezostage and since high accuracy is required the special attention is paid to avoid chattering.

Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Quantifying the Drivers of Star Formation on Galactic Scales. I. The Small Magellanic Cloud
We use the star formation history of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) to place quantitative limits on the effect of tidal interactions and gas infall on the star formation and chemical enrichment history of the SMC. The coincident timing of two recent (<

Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

Convergence Analysis for the SMC‐MeMBer and SMC‐CBMeMBer Filters [PDF]
The convergence for the sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) implementations of the multitarget multi‐Bernoulli (MeMBer) filter and cardinality‐balanced MeMBer (CBMeMBer) filters is studied here. This paper proves that the SMC‐MeMBer and SMC‐CBMeMBer filters, respectively, converge to the true MeMBer and CBMeMBer filters in the mean‐square sense and the ...

Near‐Infrared Organic Photovoltaic Electrodes for Subretinal Neurostimulation
Organic photovoltaic electrodes based on the D18:Y6 blend enable precise and light‐controlled activation of retinal ganglion cells in a degenerating retina. NIR Light‐driven activation of retinal ganglion cells, tunable stimulation parameters, and biocompatibility with human retinal organoids highlight their potential for next‐generation prosthetics ...

Detection of the Small Magellanic Cloud in gamma-rays with Fermi/LAT [PDF]
The flux of gamma rays with energies >100MeV is dominated by diffuse emission from CRs illuminating the ISM of our Galaxy through the processes of Bremsstrahlung, pion production and decay, and inverse-Compton scattering.
