Insecticide resistance management scenarios differ for RNA-based sprays and traits. [PDF]

open access: yesInsect Mol Biol
dsRNA insecticides are developed as transgenic traits or sprays. IRM for dsRNA traits is based on stacked modes of action and a refuge. IRM for dsRNA sprays is based on rotating dsRNA with different modes of action insecticides. Abstract RNA‐based bioinsecticides that comprise a dsRNA active ingredient and function by RNA interference (RNAi) are being ...

The ALG-2-interacting Protein Alix Associates with CHMP4b, a Human Homologue of Yeast Snf7 That Is Involved in Multivesicular Body Sorting* [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2003
Alix (ALG-2-interacting protein X) is a 95-kDa protein that interacts with an EF-hand type Ca2+-binding protein, ALG-2 (apoptosis-linked gene 2), through its C-terminal proline-rich region. In this study, we searched for proteins that interact with human

Pathways of Protein Secretion in Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes: Molecular Mechanisms, Biological Functions, and Therapeutic Opportunities [PDF]

open access: yesMedComm (2020)
This graphical abstract delineates noncanonical protein secretion systems across eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Eukaryotic UcPS covers four ER–Golgi bypass pathways, enabling rapid leaderless protein export via direct transmembrane translocation or vesicle‐mediated release.

Target gene selection for sprayable dsRNA-based biopesticide against Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae). [PDF]

open access: yesPest Manag Sci
Silencing Prosbeta‐5 and Prosbeta‐1 resulted in high mortality in Tetranychus urticae, identifying them as potential target genes for double‐stranded RNA‐based biopesticides using spray‐induced gene silencing (SIGS). Abstract BACKGROUND Because of the excessive use of synthetic chemicals, the two‐spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, a highly ...

Design principles of the ESCRT-III Vps24-Vps2 module

open access: yeseLife, 2021
ESCRT-III polymerization is required for all endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT)-dependent events in the cell. However, the relative contributions of the eight ESCRT-III subunits differ between each process.

Molecular and genetic analysis of the SNF7 gene in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics, 1993
Abstract Mutations in the SNF7 gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae prevent full derepression of the SUC2 (invertase) gene in response to glucose limitation. We report the molecular cloning of the SNF7 gene by complementation. Sequence analysis predicts that the gene product is a 27-kDa acidic protein.

First Evidence of Feeding-Induced RNAi in Banana Weevil via Exogenous Application of dsRNA

open access: yesInsects, 2021
Banana weevil (Cosmopolites sordidus) is the most devastating pest of banana and plantain worldwide, yet current control measures are neither effective, sustainable, nor environmentally sound, and no resistant farmer-preferred cultivars are known to date.
