Advances in Detecting RNA Modifications Using Direct RNA Nanopore Sequencing

open access: yesAdvanced Genetics, EarlyView.
This review examines recent advances in Oxford Nanopore Technologies direct RNA sequencing, highlighting its expanding capacity to detect RNA modifications beyond m6A. It discusses computational frameworks and basecalling innovations that enable single‐nucleotide and single‐molecule resolution, explores co‐occurring modifications and their regulatory ...

Linkage disequilibrium score regression identifies genetic correlations between hepatocellular carcinoma and clinically relevant traits

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Hepatocellular carcinoma arises from a combination of environmental and genetic factors, with the latter playing a potentially more significant role in nonviral hepatocellular carcinoma. Here, the authors characterized the genetic correlations and heritability between nonviral hepatocellular carcinoma and 901 epidemiologic, behavioral, and ...

Genetic characterisation of the Nero d’Aspromonte pig population in Southern Italy

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science
The aim of this study was to investigate the genomic diversity of the Nero d’Aspromonte (NA) pig population. NA is a subpopulation derived from the Apulo Calabrese (AC) breed that has been reared in total isolation within the Polsi area of Aspromonte ...

Cross‐continental transmission and host adaptation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in China unveiled by population history reconstruction and adaptive evolution signal detection

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This study showed that four Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) sub‐lineages might be introduced into China 1000–400 years ago via Europe‐China dispersal routes, where they diversified into local clades, and later underwent population expansions that coincided with periods of climatic cooling and warfare.

Four Pharmacogenomic Variants Strongly Linked to Corticosteroid‐Induced Avascular Necrosis in Children with Cancer

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Corticosteroids are effective anti‐cancer agents for treating hematologic malignancies in children. However, avascular necrosis (AVN) is a common and debilitating adverse effect, leading to bone death and impacting long‐term quality of life. This study aimed to uncover the genetic factors contributing to corticosteroid‐induced AVN in a well ...
