Integrin-mediated membrane blebbing is dependent on the NHE1 and NCX1 activities. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Integrin-mediated signal transduction and membrane blebbing have been well studied to modulate cell adhesion, spreading and migration^1-6^. However, the relationship between membrane blebbing and integrin signaling has not been explored.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Empowering Young Adults as Agents of Household Dietary Change: Findings From a Pilot Study Involving a Digital, Family-Led Sodium Reduction Intervention in Singapore

open access: yesCurrent Developments in Nutrition
Background: Unhealthy dietary habits such as high-sodium intake, are socially embedded and often resistant to individual-level interventions. Family-led approaches, where 1 member initiates change within the household, may offer a more effective ...

LETM1-Mediated K+ and Na+ Homeostasis Regulates Mitochondrial Ca2+ Efflux

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2017
Ca2+ transport across the inner membrane of mitochondria (IMM) is of major importance for their functions in bioenergetics, cell death and signaling. It is therefore tightly regulated.

Narrow-band optical filter through phase conjugation by nondegenerate four-wave mixing in sodium vapor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
An ultrahigh-Q tunable optical filter with a FWHM bandwidth of 41 MHz is demonstrated. The filtering is produced by nondegenerate phase conjugation through four-wave mixing in atomic-sodium vapor.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Urinary electrolyte parameters in sepsis-associated acute kidney injury: A prospective observational study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia
Background and Aims: Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality. Current biomarkers have limitations, necessitating the exploration of alternative indicators.

Salinity reduces nutrients absorption and efficiency of their utilization in cassava plants

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2018
: The objective of this research was to evaluate the influence of salinity on the absorption and utilization of nutrients by cassava. For the study, cassava was submitted to four saline concentrations: 0, 20, 40, and 60mM NaCl.

The use of topical diclofenac in the pain management of osteoarthritis of the knee [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common complaint that affects millions of people worldwide. As there is no cure for OA, drug treatment is the main form of management.
