Effect of aqueous seed extract of Mucuna pruriens on arsenic-induced testicular toxicity in mice

open access: yesAsian Pacific Journal of Reproduction, 2020
Objective: To investigate the protective effects of Mucuna (M.) pruriens against arsenic-induced testicular impairment in albino mice. Methods: Thirty-six male albino mice were divided into six groups, with 6 mice in each group. Group 1 received drinking

The Electrolytic Oxidation of Sodium Arsenite

open access: yesTransactions of The Electrochemical Society, 1936
In place of the iron anodes used in the past for the electrolytic oxidation of sodium arsenite, graphite and platinum anodes were investigated. It was found that a higher current efficiency and material yield was obtained with Acheson graphite anodes than with platinum anodes under the same conditions.

Synergistic Ameliorative Capabilities of Quercetin and Ascorbic Acid on Hepatic and Pro-Inflammatory Markers of Arsenic-Induced Toxicity in Obese Wistar Rats

open access: yesFountain Journal of Natural and Applied Sciences (FUJNAS)
Obesity and arsenic exposure have been linked to many health issues. However, arsenic poisoning severity and susceptibility may depend on Body Mass Index (BMI), oxidative state, food supplements, and other factors.

Determination of Aflatoxins and Selected Heavy Metals in Rice Varieties Cultivated in Fogera, Amhara Region, Ethiopia

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a vital staple crop for nearly half the world's population. This study investigates the levels of aflatoxins (AFB1, AFB2, AFG1, and AFG2) and selected heavy metals (Cd, Pb, and Cr) and essential elements (Mn, Fe, Mg, Cu, and Zn) in rice varieties cultivated in Fogera, Amhara Region, Ethiopia.

Subchronic Exposure to Arsenic and Nickel Triggers Nitrosative Stress and Histological Alterations in the Rat Liver

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Environmental exposure to heavy metals poses a threat to human health. Several studies documented harmful effects on the liver after arsenic and nickel exposure at concentrations beyond permissible limits. Nevertheless, the impact of a simultaneous exposure to both elements on hepatic biochemistry and histology remains unelucidated. Therefore,
