Synthesis and Characterization of Biobased Polyesters with Anthraquinones Derived from α‐Resorcylic Acid

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, EarlyView.
Eight biobased polyesters are synthesized using two anthraquinones from α‐resorcylic acid to study the effects of the main and side chains on the solubility and physical properties of the polyesters containing anthraquinone substituents. The solubility of the polyesters is highly affected by dicarboxylate units, and the polyester with octyloxy side ...

Inhibition of Tissue Respiration by Sodium Benzoate and Sodium Hippurate

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1937
The consumption of oxygen by minced tissue and by tissue slices in the presence of sodium benzoate was studied in order to determine whether this experimental procedure might be used in the investigation of the in vitro synthesis of hippuric acid. The oxygen uptake of the tissue was measured at 38°C.

Cobalt–Oxygen Bond Homolysis in the Bench‐Stable (Salen*)Cobalt(III) Acetate Complex: Insight into the Organometallic Mediated Radical Polymerization of Diverse Monomers

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, EarlyView.
The air‐stable [(Salen*)Co(OAc)] complex initiates the radical polymerization of vinyl monomers via Co–O bond homolysis, distinguishing it from classical air‐sensitive cobalt complexes relying on Co‐C bond cleavage. Accordingly, MMA polymerization proceeds via catalytic chain‐transfer while MA undergoes controlled OMRP involving two distinct initiation
