Investigation into the relationship between ethylene and sulfur assimilation in Arabidopsis thaliana and onion (Allium cepa L.) : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science (with Honours) in Biochemistry at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The phytohormone ethylene (C2H4) mediates the adaptive responses of plants to various nutrient deficiencies including iron (Fe)-deficiency, phosphorus (P)-deficiency and potassium (K)-deficiency.

Preparation of aqueous dispersion of thermoplastic sizing agent for carbon fiber by emulsion/solvent evaporation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this work, different sizing agent aqueous dispersions based on polyetherimide (PEI) were elaborated in order to improve the interface between carbon fibers and a thermoplastic matrix (PEEK).

Establishment of a coculture system for Porphyromonas gingivalis and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma using spheroid culture and LATS inhibition

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We established a spheroid coculture system enabling viable Porphyromonas gingivalis–HNSCC interactions under normoxic conditions. Inhibition of LATS1/2 maintains tumor cells in an undifferentiated state, which may promote spheroid growth and create a more permissive environment for bacterial persistence.

Retention behavior of selected alkaloids in Reversed Phase micellar chromatographic systems

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, 2015
In this work, the effects of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) concentrations on retention, separation selectivity, peak shapes and systems efficiency were investigated. Herein, the retention data for 11 alkaloids were determined on an RP18 silica column with

Exploring the nature of the interactions between the molecules of the sodium dodecyl sulfate and water in crystal phases and in the water/vacuum interface

open access: yesHeliyon, 2020
The nature of the interaction between the molecules of the sodium dodecyl sulfate surfactant forming two crystal phases, one anhydrous, NaC12H25O4S and the other, NaC12H25O4S.H2O, hydrated with one water molecule for unit cell, has been studied in detail

Characterization of the Lipopolysaccharide from a \u3cem\u3eRhizobium phaseoli\u3c/em\u3e Mutant that is Defective in Infection Thread Development [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from a Rhizobium phaseoli mutant, CE109, was isolated and compared with that of its wild-type parent, CE3. A previous report has shown that the mutant is defective in infection thread development, and sodium dodecyl sulfate ...

Sodium dodecyl sulfate at water/hydrophobic Interfaces

open access: yesJ. Chem. Phys. B, 2012
Using molecular dynamics simulations we have studied the water–vapor and water–oil (decane) interfaces of aqueous solutions of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The water–vapor interface is often used as a model for water–oil (hydrophobic) interfaces yet we observe that the behavior of amphiphilic DS– ions at these two interfaces is very different ...

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Purification of alpha-toxin from Staphylococcus aureus and application to cell permeabilization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
Crude alpha-toxin was produced by Staphylococcus aureus, strain Wood 46. The amount of exotoxin was monitored during growth and all subsequent purification steps by determination of its hemolytic activity against rabbit erythrocytes.
