Effect of sodium citrate/polyethylene glycol on plasticization and retrogradation of maize starch

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2020
Maize starch was plasticized by mixtures of sodium citrate and polyethylene glycol 200 (PEG200) at varied weight ratios (citric acid/PEG200, 25/0, 20/5, 15/10, 10/15, 5/20 and 0/25). The structure and pasting, aging, moisture absorption and thermal properties of the plasticized starches were studied by means of Fourier transformed infrared, X-ray ...

Study on the Mechanism Responsible for the Incompatibility of Enalapril Maleate with Sodium Starch Glycolate

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2021
Enalapril maleate (EM) is known to suffer from incompatibilities in the solid state. This study investigates the destabilizing effect of sodium starch glycolate (SSG) on EM. This was done by varying the mixing ratio and moisture content of binary mixtures.

On the Similarity of Sodium Starch Glycolate from Different Sources

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 1986
The physico-pharmaceutical properties of different batches of two brands of sodium starch glycolate have been investigated as disintegrant in direct compression. Differences in disintegration efficiency were found to be related to the purity of the products. The differences, however, were too small to have practical significance.

Effect of Moisture on the Compressibility and Compactibility of Sodium Starch Glycolate

Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, 2007
The relationship between the apparent moisture content and compactibility of sodium starch glycolate was compared to similarly obtained data for pregelatinized starch. Samples of sodium starch glycolate (SSG) and pregelatinised starch (PGS) were stored at 44% or 75% relative humidity (RH), producing samples exhibiting moisture contents of up to 14% w/w,

Effect of Molecular Structure Variation on the Disintegrant Action of Sodium Starch Glycolate

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1985
The effect of variation in the degree of cross-linkage and extent of carboxymethylation on the disintegration and dissolution properties of sodium starch glycolate has been examined. Samples of sodium starch glycolate were evaluated for particle size distributions and bulk and tapped densities.

Synergistic effects of sodium adipate/triethylene glycol on the plasticization and retrogradation of corn starch

Carbohydrate Research, 2020
Starch retrogradation resulted in bad performance and taste of starch products. In this study, the corn starch films modified by sodium adipate and triethylene glycol were prepared by solution casting. The retrogradation of modified starch films were studied by FT-IR, XRD, SEM, tension test and UV-Vis.

In-vitro and in-vivo evaluation of modified sodium starch glycolate for exploring its haemostatic potential

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2020
The control of blood flow from breached blood vessels during surgery or trauma is challenging. With the existing treatment options being either expensive or ineffective, the development of a haemostat that overcome such drawbacks would be beneficial. With an aim to develop an ideal haemostat, the potential of sodium starch glycolate (SSG), a commonly ...

Formulation and Evaluation of Immediate release tablets of Topiramate using Sodium starch glycolate

Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology, 2019
The aim of the current study was to develop immediate release tablets (IRT) of topiramate using different concentrations of sodium starch glycolate (SSG) as super disintegrant. Four different formulations of IRT were prepared using wet granulation method. Different pre compression and post compression characterization of tablet was carried out.

A Study of Moisture Sorption and Dielectric Processes of Starch and Sodium Starch Glycolate

Pharmaceutical Research, 2017
This study explored the potential of combining the use of moisture sorption isotherms and dielectric relaxation profiles of starch and sodium starch glycolate (SSG) to probe the location of moisture in dried and hydrated samples.Starch and SSG samples, dried and hydrated, were prepared. For hydrated samples, their moisture contents were determined. The

Multiple Sources of Sodium Starch Glycolate, NF: Evaluation of Functional Equivalence and Development of Standard Performance Tests

Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, 2002
Sodium starch glycolate is a commonly used super-disintegrant employed to promote rapid disintegration and dissolution of IR solid dosage forms. It is manufactured by chemical modification of starch, i.e., carboxymethylation to enhance hydrophilicity and cross-linking to reduce solubility.
