Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Perturbative corrections to soft photon theorems for massless scalar QED in de Sitter spacetime

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
The perturbative corrections to soft photon theorems with massive scalars in de Sitter spacetime were computed in (Bhatkar and Jain in J High Energy Phys 2023:55, 2023). However, the massless limit of the scalar modes is ill-defined in their work.

Strain Sensor-Embedded Soft Pneumatic Actuators for Extension and Bending Feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
For soft robots to leave the lab and enter unstructured environments, proprioception is required to understand how interactions in the field affect the soft structure.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

An algebraic classification of exceptional EFTs. Part II. Supersymmetry

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We present a novel approach to classify supersymmetric effective field theories (EFTs) whose scattering amplitudes exhibit enhanced soft limits. These enhancements arise due to non-linearly realised symmetries on the Goldstone modes of such EFTs and we ...

Soft Dissipative Modes in Nematodynamics

open access: yes, 2003
The paper analyses a possible occurrence of soft and semi-soft dissipative modes in uniaxially anisotropic nematic liquids as described by the five parametric Leslie-Ericksen-Parodi (LEP) constitutive equations (CEs). As in the similar elastic case, the soft dissipative modes theoretically cause no resistance to flow, nullifying the corresponding ...

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

Influence of Exposure Distance on Light Irradiance of Dental Curing Lamps in Various Operating Modes

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The efficiency of photopolymerisation significantly impacts achieving a high degree of conversion and, consequently, determines the success and strength of resin-based composite (RBC) restorations.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.
