Bacterial Soft Rot of Carrot, Parsley and Celery

2001
Bacteria of Erwinia carotovora group are well known pathogens of many vegetable species grown in Yugoslavia (2–4, 7, 9–11. However, they were not studied in details as pathogens of carrot, parsley and celery in our country. Last few years, soft rot symptoms were frequently observed on the roots of these plants stored in inadequate conditions during the

NOTE ON THE BACTERIAL SOFT ROT OF TURNIPS

Annals of Applied Biology, 1925
SUMMARY.A soft rot of turnips in a garden at East Malling was found to be caused by an organism which has peritrichous flagella and has the same group number as Bacillus carotovorus Jones.

Studies on soft rot of yams in storage

Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1971
Anatomical studies on inoculated yam disks revealed that the pathogens of yam causing storage rots penetrated the parenchyma cells of the tubers and established themselves within the cells. Infected cells were cleared of most of their starch grains and their walls disintegrated.

A study of soft-rot in hardwoods

1982
The main aims of this study were to examine the wood substrate degrading capacities of microorganisms isolated from soft-rotted CCA-treated Eucalyptus sp. power transmission poles in ground contact, and to evaluate techniques for assessment of the degree of wood degradation caused by microbial attack.

The Changing Face of Bacterial Soft-Rot Diseases

Annual Review of Phytopathology, 2018
Bacterial soft rot is a disease complex caused by multiple genera of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, with Dickeya and Pectobacterium being the most widely studied soft-rot bacterial pathogens. In addition to soft rot, these bacteria also cause blackleg of potato, foot rot of rice, and bleeding canker of pear.

Bacterial soft rot of banana

Bacterial soft rots of banana and plantains involve two different diseases caused by related but distinct pathogens: rhizome soft rot or head rot by Pectobacterium carotovorum. subsp. carotovorum and pseudostem wet rot and rhizome rot - in some parts of the world called rhizome necrosis and corm rot-, caused by Dickeya paradisiaca.

Molecular Genetics Of Pathogenesis By Soft-Rot Erwinias

Annual Review of Phytopathology, 1987
The soft-rot erwinias are enterobacteria able to cause diseases, a symptom of which is the maceration of host tissues, on a wide range of plants. In the past, this group of pathogens was grouped into a single species, Erwinia caroto vora, divided into subspecies (129).

Soft-rot Decay of Treated Hardwoods

1988
The lumen surface and S2 wood cell wall areas of Copper-chromearsenic (CCA) preservative-treated wood decayed in a laboratory system by a preservative tolerant soft-rot fungus were investigated to examine relationships between preservative microdistribution and sites of decay.

Bacterial Soft Rot of Avocado Fruit

Nature, 1954
SOFT-ROT diseases of avocado fruit are recorded in the literature as associated with fungi. So far, the only bacterial disease reported to affect avocado fruit is a dry rot caused by Pseudomonas syringae Van Hall1. In December 1953, however, a bacterial soft-rot disease in avocado fruits was found in Israel on several fruits picked from a single tree ...
