Molecular Events Occurring During Softening of Strawberry Fruit

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Changes in fruit texture taking place during ripening, described as softening, are mainly due to alterations in structure and/or composition of the cell wall.

Preharvest Foliar Spraying Combined with Postharvest Salicylic Acid Treatment Regulates Panzao (Ziziphus jujuba Mill. cv. ‘Jingcang1’) Fruit Quality and Softening during Storage

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2023
Panzao (Ziziphus jujuba Mill. cv. ‘Jingcang1’) have a short shelf-life, which hampers their marketability. To investigate effects of combined pre- and postharvest treatments on quality and softening during storage, preharvest Guomantian foliar fertilizer

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Estimation of Iron Ore Pellet Softening in a Blast Furnace with Computational Thermodynamics

open access: yesMetals, 2021
In blast furnaces it is desirable for the burden to hold a lumpy packed structure at as high a temperature as possible. The computational thermodynamic software FactSage (version 7.2, Thermfact/CRCT, Montreal, Canada and GTT-Technologies, Aachen, Germany)

Anticancer sensitivities and biological characteristics of HCT116 cells resistant to the selective poly(ADP‐ribose) glycohydrolase inhibitor

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed alterations of PAR metabolism‐related proteins in PARG inhibitor‐resistant HCT116RPDD cells. Although PARG levels remained unchanged, HCT116RPDD cells exhibited reduced PARP1 and ARH3 expression and elevated PAR levels. Interestingly, HCT116RPDD cells exhibited slightly elevated intracellular NAD+/NADH and ATP levels. Our findings suggest a

Laser Metal Deposited Ti4822 Hollow Pipe: Experimental and Computational Modelling Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser metal deposition (LMD) of a crack‐free built Ti4822 alloys is challenging. This article reports outstanding characteristics of a hollow pipe that is built with LMD technology when a predicted, nontransformation substrate temperature of 800 °C is used.

Adjustment of Coatings Morphology and Particle Distribution of Layered Silicates by Freeze‐Drying for Improved Gas Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

The effects of ACS (1-aminocyclopropane-l-carboxylate synthase) gene down regulation on ethylene production and fruit softening in transgenic apple

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2003
A detailed examination of the production of ethylene and other ripening parameters during storage period has been undertaken in transgenic apple fruits, where the ethylene biosynthesis was inhibited by antisense ACS (l-aminocyclopropane-l-carboxylate ...
