Characterizing Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities in Large C/C++ Projects

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Security vulnerabilities are present in most software systems, especially in projects with a large codebase, with several versions over the years, developed by many developers.

ERBIN limits epithelial cell plasticity via suppression of TGF‐β signaling

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In breast and lung cancer patients, low ERBIN expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes. Here, we show that ERBIN inhibits TGF‐β‐induced epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in NMuMG breast and A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. ERBIN suppresses TGF‐β/SMAD signaling and reduces TGF‐β‐induced ERK phosphorylation.

Measuring Software Modularity Based on Software Networks

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Modularity has been regarded as one of the most important properties of a successful software design. It has significant impact on many external quality attributes such as reusability, maintainability, and understandability.

Software Development Processes Metrics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Pojem proces pronikl v posledních letech do všech oblastí lidské činnost, kde pomáhá systematizovat dříve neorganizovanou práci. Tato práce se zaměřuje na analýzu procesů pomocí statistických metod (Statistical process control).

Thermostable neutral metalloprotease from Geobacillus sp. EA1 does not share thermolysin's preference for substrates with leucine at the P1′ position

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Knowing how proteases recognise preferred substrates facilitates matching proteases to applications. The S1′ pocket of protease EA1 directs cleavage to the N‐terminal side of hydrophobic residues, particularly leucine. The S1′ pocket of thermolysin differs from EA's at only one position (leucine in place of phenylalanine), which decreases cleavage ...

C‐mannosylation promotes ADAMTS1 activation and secretion in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
C‐mannosylation is a unique form of protein glycosylation. In this study, we demonstrated that ADAMTS1 is C‐mannosylated at Trp562 and Trp565 in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells. We found that C‐mannosylation of ADAMTS1 is essential for its secretion, processing, enzymatic activity, and ability to promote vasculogenic mimicry. These findings

Metrics Are Needed for Collaborative Software Development [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2011
There is a need for metrics for inter-organizational collaborative software development projects, encompassing management and technical concerns. In particular, metrics are needed that are aimed at the collaborative aspect itself, such as readiness for ...

Deep Learning Approach for Software Maintainability Metrics Prediction

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Software maintainability predicts changes or failures that may occur in software after it has been deployed. Since it deals with the degree to which an application may be understood, repaired, or enhanced, it also takes into account the overall cost of ...

Ergothioneine supplementation improves pup phenotype and survival in a murine model of spinal muscular atrophy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disease affecting motor neurons. Individuals with SMA experience mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of an antioxidant and neuroprotective substance, ergothioneine (ERGO), on an SMNΔ7 mouse model of SMA.
