Jewel beetles can discriminate leaf feeding sites and bark oviposition sites based upon the opponent comparison of their blue, green, and red photoreceptor signals. Through this mechanism, green traps resemble leaves, and purple traps resemble bark, explaining their different attractiveness to males and females.

Despite the minimal annual temperature variation and the widespread distribution of potential year‐round habitats in Ghana, the migratory potential of the local fall armyworm remains strong and is indistinguishable from that of the fall armyworm in China, which undergo seasonal migration.

Is the endophyte‐based plant protection against aphids mediated by changes in the insect microbiome?
We showed that the fungal endophyte Epichloë strain AR37 increased the plant resistance against aphids via the production of indole diterpene alkaloids. The reduction in aphid performance was not associated with changes in abundance/composition/diversity of the insect's bacterial microbiota, but additional endophyte effects on this microbiota cannot be

Larval development time, ADG, survival rate and substrate consumption were not negatively affected by the levels of mycotoxins contamination Larvae excreted most of the ingested DON and its derivatives through exuviae and frass The mycotoxin accumulation rates observed in larvae were always below the current legal limits for livestock feed Abstract ...

Short Read Lengths Recover Ecological Patterns in 16S rRNA Gene Amplicon Data
ABSTRACT 16S rRNA gene metabarcoding, the study of amplicon sequences of the 16S rRNA gene from mixed environmental samples, is an increasingly popular and accessible method for assessing bacterial communities across a wide range of environments. As metabarcoding sequence data archives continue to grow, data reuse will likely become an important source
