Modelling continuum intensity perturbations caused by solar acoustic oscillations
Context. Helioseismology is the study of the Sun’s interior using observations of oscillations at the surface. It suffers from systematic errors, for instance a center-to-limb error in travel-time measurements.

Helioseismic Properties of Dynamo Waves in the Variation of Solar Differential Rotation
Solar differential rotation exhibits a prominent feature: its cyclic variations over the solar cycle, referred to as zonal flows or torsional oscillations, are observed throughout the convection zone.

Investigating Alfvénic wave propagation in coronal open-field regions
The physical mechanisms behind accelerating solar and stellar winds are a long-standing astrophysical mystery, although recent breakthroughs have come from models invoking the turbulent dissipation of Alfvén waves.

We report detection of quasi-periodic pulsations in extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) emissions during the peak phase of an X-class solar flare. Temporal variation of EUV intensity in 171 Å and 335 Å channels of SDO/AIA were analyzed using wavelet transform ...

Extreme-ultraviolet Wave and Quasiperiodic Pulsations during an Eruptive M-class Flare
In this paper, we report multiwavelength and multipoint observations of the prominence eruption originating from active region 11163, which generated an M3.5 class flare and a coronal mass ejection (CME) on 2011 February 24.

Solar oscillations as a guide to solar structure
The theoretical spectrum of frequencies for the radial oscillations of a solar model is shown to depend on the treatment of convection near the model surface. For example, the period of the fundamental radial mode can vary from 48 minutes to 66 minutes, depending on the treatment.

Wave Period Variability in a Quiescent Solar Prominence
On 2022 September 26, we observed a quiescent solar prominence with H α imaging spectroscopy using the Solar Dynamics Doppler Imager (SDDI) on board the Solar Magnetic Activity Research Telescope (SMART).

From kink instability to magnetic reconnection to oscillations in solar flares
We show how some different fundamental plasma processes - the ideal kink instability, magnetic reconnection and magnetohydrodynamic oscillations - can be causally linked.

Prominences are intriguing, but poorly understood, magnetic structures of the solar corona. The dynamics of solar prominences has been the subject of a large number of studies, and of particular interest is the study of prominence oscillations.

The Sun rings like a bell. The central frequency of the sound is far below human hearing, just 0.003 Hz. The sounds you hear as part of this work have been increased in speed by 100,000 times bringing the sound up to 300 Hz and into the range of our ...
