From sole crops to strip cropping: Decision rules of frontrunner farmers in The Netherlands. [PDF]
Strip cropping, where several crops are grown in adjacent long and narrow multi-row strips, is an innovation niche that challenges monocropping by offering a greater range of ecosystem services, including higher biodiversity and aesthetic value at similar yield.

Response of cereals to nitrogen in sole cropping and intercropping with different legumes [PDF]
The response of sole and intercropped cereal to nitrogen fertilization was compared in three contrasting cropping systems, sorghum/pigeonpea, maize/groundnut, and sorghum/cowpea. The cereal in these systems responded to nitrogen similarly as in sole cropping, although different legumes affected the cereal differently.

Performance of lettuce in sole cropping and intercropping with green manures [PDF]
The performance of lettuce in sole and intercropped with green manures was assessed under different establishment times. The lettuce fresh and dry weight, number of leaves per plant, diameter and length of head, and fresh and dry weight of green manure were evaluated.

Intercropping enhances productivity and maintains the most soil fertility properties relative to sole cropping. [PDF]
Yield and nutrient acquisition advantages are frequently found in intercropping systems. However, there are few published reports on soil fertility in intercropping relative to monocultures. A field experiment was therefore established in 2009 in Gansu province, northwest China.

Designing and Evaluating Arable Cropping Systems with Cash and Cover Crop Legumes in Sole Crop and Intercrop to Improve Nitrogen use Efficiency [PDF]
Mini Review This paper aimed at synthetizing: i. Impact of sole grain legume at the rotation level, ii. Potential of grain legume intercrops for improving yield and cereal protein content and iii. Potential of cover crops including intercropped forage legume to achieve simultaneously nitrate capture and green manuring ecosystem services.

Exploiting the Genetic Potential of Cowpea in An Intercropping Complex
In the West African sub-region, intercropping is a critical element in cowpea product profiles. This study aimed to investigate the impact of intercropping cowpea with pearl millet on genetic correlations, heritability, and response to selection.

Multi-Traits Selection of Maize Hybrids under Sole-Crop and Multiple-Crops with Soybean
Multi-trait selection is very helpful in plant breeding programs. This technique can select genotypes for specific traits. Yield performance of maize hybrids is influenced by genotype-by-environment interactions (GEIs). This requires multi-environmental testing to identify superior hybrids.
