Adaptable Covalent Organic Framework‐Hydrogel Microneedles for Glucose‐Responsive Isoliquiritigenin Delivery in Diabetic Wound Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a covalent organic framework‐loaded Traditional Chinese Medicine monomer nanodrug delivery system (ISL@bCOF) via boron‐oxygen bonds, a smart response to glucose for delivering AI‐driven isoliquiritigenin (ISL) targeting ZBP1. This dynamic release mechanism, combined with transdermal delivery technology via potent microneedles, can modulate ...

Growth of Candida utilis in solid state fermentation

open access: yesBiotechnology Advances, 1993
In this work, the growth of the yeast Candida utilis on different solid substrate (wheat bran) and supports (sugarcane bagasse and Amberlite resin) imbibed with a liquid culture medium was studied. Growth was followed by sugars consumption, carbon dioxide production rate (CDPR) and cell count.

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

Biochemical engineering aspects of solid-state fermentation

open access: yes, 1993
This chapter discusses the biochemical engineering aspects of solid-state fermentation (SSF). Solid-state fermentation involves the growth of microorganisms on moist solid substrate in the absence of free-flowing water.

Gardiquimod Nanoemulsion Targets Cutaneous Leishmaniasis Lesions Reducing Systemic Toxicity and Parasite Burden

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion delivery of a TLR7 agonist enhances safety and promotes colocalization with Leishmania‐infected macrophages in skin lesions, enabling a ∼2‐log reduction in parasite burden. However, tissue‐level constraints and TLR‐driven regulatory feedback generate a mixed immune response that limits complete parasite clearance.

Anti-oxidative stress mechanism of cyclic dipeptide in distiller's grains of strong-flavor Baijiu [PDF]

open access: yesZhongguo niangzao
In this study, the in vitro antioxidant activity of free peptides in distiller's grains of strong-flavor (Nongxiangxing) Baijiu was determined by measuring the free radical scavenging rate of 1,1-diphenyl-2-trinitrophenylhydrazine (DPPH).

Optimization of Aspergillus niger lipase production by solid state fermentation of agro-industrial waste

open access: yes, 2020
Lipase is one of the most used industrial enzymes, which can be produced by Aspergillus niger. Large scale production of Aspergillus niger lipase is more profitable by using solid state fermentation method and utilizing agro-industrial waste as the ...

Flexible Dielectric Acoustic Resonator Patch for Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible dielectric acoustic resonator patch enables MHz‐range ultrasound generation through resonance amplification without using piezoelectric materials. Conformal integration on a curved substrate allows efficient acoustic delivery to tissue‐mimicking environments.
