Dynamics of Colloids in Single Solid-State Nanopores

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2011
We use solid-state nanopores to study the dynamics of single electrically charged colloids through nanopores as a function of applied voltage. We show that the presence of a single colloid inside of the pore changes the pore resistance, in agreement with theory.

On Induced Surface Charge in Solid-State Nanopores

Langmuir, 2020
Solid-state nanopores constitute a versatile platform for study of ion transport in nanoconfinement. The electrical double layer (EDL) plays a vital role in such nanoconfinements, but effects of induced surface charge on the EDL in the presence of an external transmembrane electric field are yet to be characterized.

DNA-functionalized solid state nanopore for biosensing

Nanotechnology, 2010
The possible use of nanopores for single DNA molecules biosensing has been demonstrated, but much remains to do in order to develop advanced engineered devices with enhanced stability, and controlled geometry and surface properties. Here we present morphological and electrical characterization of solid state silicon nitride nanopores fabricated by ...

Solid-state nanopores for biosensing with submolecular resolution

Biochemical Society Transactions, 2012
Biological cell membranes contain various types of ion channels and transmembrane pores in the 1–100 nm range, which are vital for cellular function. Individual channels can be probed electrically, as demonstrated by Neher and Sakmann in 1976 using the patch-clamp technique [Neher and Sakmann (1976) Nature 260, 799–802].

Solid state nanopores for gene expression profiling

Superlattices and Microstructures, 2009
Abstract Recently, nanopore technology has been introduced for genome analysis. Here we show results related to the possibility of preparing “engineered solid state nanopores”. The nanopores were fabricated on a suspended Si 3 N 4 membrane by Focused Ion Beam (FIB) drilling and chemically functionalized in order to covalently bind oligonucleotides ...

Solid-State Nanopores for Biomolecular Analysis and Detection

2023
Advances in nanopore technology and data processing have rendered DNA sequencing highly accessible, unlocking a new realm of biotechnological opportunities. Commercially available nanopores for DNA sequencing are of biological origin and have certain disadvantages such as having specific environmental requirements to retain functionality.

Low-frequency noise in solid-state nanopores

Nanotechnology, 2009
Low-frequency ionic current noise in solid-state nanopores imposes a limitation on the time resolution achieved in translocation experiments. Recently, this 1/f noise was described as obeying Hooge's phenomenological relation, where the noise scales inversely with the number of charge carriers present.

Single-Molecule Analysis with Solid-State Nanopores

Annual Review of Analytical Chemistry, 2019
Solid-state nanopores and nanopipettes are an exciting class of single-molecule sensors that has grown enormously over the last two decades. They offer a platform for testing fundamental concepts of stochasticity and transport at the nanoscale, for studying single-molecule biophysics and, increasingly, also for new analytical applications and in ...

Solid-State Nanopore-Based Cell Analysis

Analytical Chemistry
Real-time, accurate monitoring of cells and intracellular molecules is crucial for a deeper understanding of biological processes and disease diagnosis. Nanopore sensing technology has been widely applied in the field of cell analysis in recent years due to its advantages of being label-free, real-time response, and simple operation.
