Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Néel vector controlled exceptional contours in p-wave magnet-ferromagnet junctions

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
Non-Hermitian (NH) systems can host exceptional degeneracies where not only the eigenvalues, but also the corresponding eigenvectors coalesce. Recently, p -wave magnets have been introduced, which are characterized by their unusual odd parity.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Alkoxide complexes of rhenium, niobium and tantalum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This thesis describes two major methods for preparation of new mono-, bi- and trimetallic complexes on the basis of Rhenium, Niobium and Tantalum: (1) - the electrochemical method for the synthesis of Re4O4(OEt)12 and (2) - the interaction of Rhenium ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Dynamic nuclear polarization mechanism in isolated NV-centers at high magnetic fields

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Open
Nitrogen vacancy centers in diamonds are promising spin-based quantum sensors and qubits. These optically addressable paramagnetic point defects have the potential to allow efficient dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) under ambient conditions due to ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Hall conductance of a non-Hermitian Weyl semimetal

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
In recent years, non-Hermitian (NH) topological semimetals have garnered significant attention due to their unconventional properties. In this work, we explore one of the transport properties, namely the Hall conductance of a three-dimensional ...

Aniline–phenol recognition: from solution through supramolecular synthons to cocrystals

open access: yesIUCrJ, 2014
Aniline–phenol recognition is studied in the crystal engineering context in several 1:1 cocrystals that contain a closed cyclic hydrogen-bonded [...O—H...N—H...]2 tetramer supramolecular synthon (II). Twelve cocrystals of 3,4,5- and 2,3,4-trichlorophenol
