Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Two isostructural layered oxohalide compounds containing Mn2+, Te4+ and Si4+; crystal structure and magnetic susceptibility

open access: yes, 2014
The new compounds Mn-4(TeO3)(SiO4)X-2 (X=Br, Cl) were synthesized by solid state reactions in sealed evacuated silica tubes. The compounds crystallize in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/m with the unit cell parameters a=5.5463(3) angstrom (5.49434(7 ...

Solid State Polymer Architecture of Empty Fruit Bunches of the African Oil Palm

open access: yes, 2021
: Empty fruit bunches are a lignocellulosic waste byproduct of palm oil production. As is typical for many such fibres from a waste stream, the utilization of these fibres as material, or source of carbon for the production of bioethanol, is hampered by ...

Dynamic nuclear polarization mechanism in isolated NV-centers at high magnetic fields

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Open
Nitrogen vacancy centers in diamonds are promising spin-based quantum sensors and qubits. These optically addressable paramagnetic point defects have the potential to allow efficient dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) under ambient conditions due to ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Application of solution state NMR to structural problems in chemistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is a robust, non invasive technique applicable in structure determination as well as in the study of dynamic behaviour of chemical compounds.

Hall conductance of a non-Hermitian Weyl semimetal

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
In recent years, non-Hermitian (NH) topological semimetals have garnered significant attention due to their unconventional properties. In this work, we explore one of the transport properties, namely the Hall conductance of a three-dimensional ...
