Journal of Pediatric Nursing, 2003
Solid tumors make up about 30% of all pediatric cancers. The most common types of solid tumors in children include brain tumors, neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, Wilms' tumor, and osteosarcoma. This article reviews the etiology and treatment of these diseases, and discusses the differences between adult and pediatric solid tumors.

Postgraduate Medicine, 1970
In the majority of solid malignant tumors, chemotherapy and hormonal therapy are only palliative. Nonetheless, drugs or hormones can bring worthwhile subjective and objective improvement. Every patient with a recurrent malignant process should be considered for chemotherapy, but strict guidelines must be followed in selection of patients.

Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 2010
Dasatinib is an oral, potent adenosine triphosphate-competitive inhibitor of multiple tyrosine kinases including BCR-ABL, c-KIT, platelet-derived growth factor receptor, and Src family kinases (SFKs). It has gained much attention for its use in chronic myeloid leukemia and for the treatment of adults with Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute ...

Tumor Lysis Syndrome in Solid Tumors
Supportive Cancer Therapy, 2005Tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) consists of acute hyperuricemic nephropathy, hyperphosphatemia, hypocalcemia, hyperkalemia, and increased serum creatinine. It can be part of the disease presentation, especially in aggressive hematologic malignancies, or a part of the chemotherapy response. There are relatively few reports of TLS in solid tumors.

Neonatal Malignant Solid Tumors
Tumori Journal, 1990We reviewed the 8 malignant solid tumors in children less than 1 month of age observed at the Pediatric Surgical Department of Padua University from 1968 to 1985. These were 6 neuroblastomas, 1 Wilms' tumor and 1 angiosarcoma; 5/8 are alive without evidence of disease with a median follow-up of 8 years.

Surgical Clinics of North America, 1979
The concept of immunotherapy has evolved into a multifaceted and specialized concern. Nonspecific immunotherapy, for example, refers to the use of substances that randomly stimulate the host-immune response. Specific immunotherapy, in contrast, is intended to evoke a particular immune response against tumor antigens.

Hand Clinics, 1987
The two most common solid benign tumors in the hand are lipoma and xanthoma, both painless; however, these tumors enlarge slowly until they are recognized (because of their unsightly appearance or interference with joint function) and treated.

Notch Signaling in Solid Tumors
2010In recent years a substantial body of evidence derived from not only preclinical but also clinical studies has accumulated in support of Notch signaling playing important oncogenic roles in several types of cancer. The finding that activating Notch mutations are frequently found in patients suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia is one of the best

Tumor associated antigen in the chemotherapy of solid tumors
Journal of Surgical Oncology, 1972AbstractTen patients receiving systemic chemotherapy for metastatic tumors of the G. I. tract and lung are studied with serial determinations of TAA levels during their therapy. The pattern of changes of TAA levels in each patient is correlated with the clinical response of that patient.
