Processing for obtaining good quality water from sewage [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Sewage treatment method incorporates aqueous slurry of activated carbon and ash. Process eliminates smell and greatly reduces amounts of solids requiring disposal.

Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

Negative magnetoresistance without well-defined chirality in the Weyl semimetal TaP

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Magnetoresistance of topological semimetal shows unusual electron transport behaviour. Here, Arnold et al. demonstrate detailed Fermi surface topology of Weyl semimetal TaP and show that negative longitudinal magnetoresistance shows up without well ...

Gravity flow rate of solids through orifices and pipes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Lock-hopper systems are the most common means for feeding solids to and from coal conversion reactor vessels. The rate at which crushed solids flow by gravity through the vertical pipes and valves in lock-hopper systems affects the size of pipes and ...

Highly Coherent Femtosecond Electron Pulses for Ultrafast Transmission Electron Microscopy [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
We describe the implementation and detailed characterization of a laser-triggered field-emitter electron source integrated into a modified transmission electron microscope. Highly coherent electron pulses enable high resolution ultrafast electron imaging

Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

Large anomalous Hall, Nernst effect and topological phases in the 3d-4d/5d-based oxide double perovskites

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials, 2023
Magnetism and spin-orbit coupling are two fundamental and interconnected properties of oxide materials, that can give rise to various topological transport phenomena, including anomalous Hall and anomalous Nernst effects. These transport responses can be

Intravitreal GD2‐Specific Chimeric Antigen Receptor T‐Cell Therapy for Refractory Retinoblastoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Effective treatments for advanced, treatment‐resistant retinoblastoma (RB) remain limited. GD2‐specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells show potent antitumor activity with minimal toxicity but have not previously been evaluated in RB.

Hard magnet topological semimetals in XPt3 compounds with the harmony of Berry curvature

open access: yesCommunications Physics, 2021
Topological magnetic semimetals can realise large intrinsic anomalous Hall effects using the characteristics of their electronic band structure and Berry curvature.

Electrokinetic Treatment of Sludge [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Disposal of sludge has become a major issue in the pulp and paper industry because of the decreased space in landfills and the possibility of pollution from the sludge.
