Solubilization and preformulation of carbendazim
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2002The solubilization of carbendazim by pH in combination with cosolvents, surfactants or complexants was investigated. At pH 7 the total drug solubility is 6.11 +/- 0.45 microg/ml which increases by 1-7 fold with cosolvent, surfactant or complexant. However, at pH 2 the solubility increases by 250 times. Cosolvents have a negligible effect (50% increase)

Solubilization of the opiate receptor
Life Sciences, 1980Abstract The opiate receptor is solubilized from rat neural membranes by treating the membranes with Triton X-100, followed by centrifugation. Removal of the Triton X-100 was accomplished with Bio-beads SM-2, and the resulting supernatant was capable of stereospecifically binding opiates at 10−13 moles/mg protein under saturating conditions ...

Solubilization of a Dendrimer into a Microemulsion
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2010The present work investigates, for the first time, a system comprising a dendrimer incorporated into the water core of water-in-oil (W/O) microemulsion (ME). A second generation (G-2) poly(propyleneimine) dendrimer (PPI) was solubilized into W/O ME composed of AOT (sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate), heptane, and water.

Solubilization of inorganic calcium phosphates—Solubilization mechanisms
Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 1995Abstract Two species [Penicillium aurantiogriseum and Pseudomonas sp. ( PI18 89 )] having high abilities in solubilizing inorganic phosphates (hydroxylapatite and brushite) were used to examine solubilization mechanisms. No direct contact between microorganisms and calcium phosphates (Ca-Ps) were necessary for effective solubilization.

Hydrolysis of solubilized aspirin
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1967The hydrolysis of aspirin in buffered solutions of the nonionic surfactant, cetomacrogol, has been studied at 37° over the pH range 1 through 7. Cetomacrogol reduces the hydrolysis rate of unionized aspirin but not that of ionized aspirin. The reaction occurs mainly in the aqueous phase but at low pH the contribution of a hydrogen ion catalyzed ...

Abstract The solubilization of benzocaine with polyoxyethylene (23) lauryl ether and polysorbate 80 was determined as a function of temperature. The enhancement of the stability of benzocaine and homatropine solubilized with from 3 to 15% polyoxyethylene (23) lauryl ether and polysorbate 80 was quantitatively determined at 30, 50, and 70°.

Drug solubilization by complexation
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2017Drugs must possess some solubility in water to be therapeutically effective after oral or topical administration to the eye, and drugs must be soluble to be formulated as aqueous solutions for, for example, parenteral delivery. A variety of methods can be applied to enhance aqueous solubility of poorly soluble drugs one of which is the usage of ...

Elastin purification and solubilization
2018The functional form of elastin is a highly cross-linked polymer that organizes as sheets or fibers in the extracellular matrix. Purification of the mature protein is problematic because its insolubility precludes its isolation using standard wet-chemistry techniques.

Stability of Solubilized Benzodiazepine Receptors
Preparative Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 1997According to the observations of other researchers, benzodiazepine receptors solubilized with sodium deoxycholate are unstable, but stability can be improved by exchanging deoxycholate for Triton X-100. In our experiments we conclude that the choice of detergent is not the restrictive factor for the stability of the solubilized receptors, but the ...

Membrane Protein Solubilization
2009A critical step in any in vitro analysis of membrane proteins is the solubilization of the membrane to extract the protein of interest in an active form to obtain an aqueous solution containing the membrane protein complexed with detergents and lipids in a form suitable for purification and further analysis. This process is particularly delicate as the
