Role of soluble adenylyl cyclase in the heart
This review discusses the potential place of soluble adenylyl cyclase (sAC) in the framework of signaling in the cardiovascular system. cAMP has been studied as a critical and pleiotropic second messenger in cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells, and smooth muscle vascular cells for many years.

Extracellular regulation of sperm transmembrane adenylyl cyclase by a forward motility stimulating protein. [PDF]
Forward motility stimulating factor (FMSF), a glycoprotein isolated from buffalo serum, binds to the surface of the mature sperm cells to promote their progressive motility.

Functional Significance of the Adcy10-Dependent Intracellular cAMP Compartments
Mounting evidence confirms the compartmentalized structure of evolutionarily conserved 3′–5′-cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) signaling, which allows for simultaneous participation in a wide variety of physiological functions and ensures specificity,

Endocrinology and the brain: Corticotropin-Releasing Hormone signaling [PDF]
Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) is a key player of basal and stress activated responses in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA) and in extrahypothalamic circuits, where it functions as a neuromodulator to orchestrate humoral and behavioral

The Dictyostelium homologue of mammalian soluble adenylyl cyclase encodes a guanylyl cyclase [PDF]
A new Dictyostelium discoideum cyclase gene was identified that encodes a protein (sGC) with 35% similarity to mammalian soluble adenylyl cyclase (sAC). Gene disruption of sGC has no effect on adenylyl cyclase activity and results in a >10-fold reduction in guanylyl cyclase activity.

Adenylyl Cyclase in Ocular Health and Disease: A Comprehensive Review
Adenylyl cyclases (ACs) are a group of enzymes that convert adenosine-5′-triphosphate (ATP) to cyclic adenosine 3′,5′ monophosphate (cAMP), a vital and ubiquitous signalling molecule in cellular responses to hormones and neurotransmitters. There are nine

Essential role of CFTR in PKA-dependent phosphorylation, alkalinization, and hyperpolarization during human dperm capacitation [PDF]
Mammalian sperm require to spend a limited period of time in the female reproductive tract to become competent to fertilize in a process called capacitation.

Photocycle features of heterologously expressed and assembled eukaryotic flavin-binding BLUF domains of photoactivated adenylyl cyclase (PAC), a blue-light receptor in Euglena gracilis [PDF]
Photoactivated adenylyl cyclase (PAC) is a recently discovered blue-light photoreceptor that mediates photomovement in Euglena gracilis (Iseki et al., Nature, 2002, 415, 1047-1051). PAC appears to be a heterotetramer composed of two FAD-binding subunits (

Light‐Based Molecular Tools to Precisely Monitor and Operate β‐Adrenoceptors
ABSTRACT β‐Adrenoceptors are important G protein–coupled receptors involved in cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurological regulation. To study their function with high precision, light‐based molecular tools have been developed offering precise spatiotemporal control.

Guanylyl cyclase activity associated with putative bifunctional integral membrane proteins in Plasmodium falciparum. [PDF]
We report here that guanylyl cyclase activity is associated with two large integral membrane proteins (PfGCalpha and PfGCbeta) in the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum.
