Stochastic Thermodynamics of Brownian Motion

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
A stochastic thermodynamics of Brownian motion is set up in which state functions are expressed in terms of state variables through the same relations as in classical irreversible thermodynamics, with the difference that the state variables are now ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Electrical Removal Behavior of Carbon Nanotube and Carbon Nanofiber Film in CuCl2 Solution: Kinetics and Thermodynamics Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemistry, 2011
The kinetics, thermodynamics, and isotherms during electrical removal of Cu2+ by carbon nanotube and carbon nanofiber (CNT-CNF) electrodes in CuCl2 solution were studied under different solution temperatures, initial Cu2+ concentrations, and applied ...

Activity query

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2017
To investigate the laws relating to the mole fraction of a component in a binary solution and its vapor pressure, the entropies of dissolution from the solid phase to the liquid phase of 48 typical compounds were assessed and the compounds were confirmed

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Momentum work and the energetic foundations of physics. IV. The essence of heat, entropy, enthalpy, and Gibbs free energy

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
Momentum work enables a complete shift from kinematics to dynamics. This involves changes in the very fundamentals of physics, not only in mechanics, statistical mechanics, and special relativity, as shown in Papers I–III [G. Kalies and D. D. Do, AIP Adv.

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Null surface thermodynamics in topologically massive gravity

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2023
We study three dimensional topologically massive gravity (TMG) in presence of a generic codimension one null boundary. The existence of the boundary is accounted for by enlarging the Hilbert space of the theory by degrees of freedom which only reside at ...

Characterization of Aluminized Layers on Inconel‐738 Alloy: Microstructure, Modeling of Aluminizing Kinetics, and Thermal Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explored how effective nickel aluminide coatings are obtained in providing oxidation resistance applied to the Inconel 738 alloy, modeling with diffusion models. In the present study, kinetics and thermal behavior of the Inconel 738 alloy were studied by the low‐temperature thermoreactive aluminizing process, which was carried out at 625°C ...
