Role of Water on Zeolite-Catalyzed Dehydration of Polyalcohols and EVOH Polymer

open access: yes, 2023
Selective dehydration of polyalcohols over zeolites containing Brønsted acids is a promising approach to purify and recycle multilayer polymer films consisting of non-polar polymers such as polyethylene and polar polymers like ethylene–vinyl alcohol ...

Temperature-Induced Phase Transformations in Tutton Salt K2Cu(SO4)2(H2O)6: Thermoanalytical Studies Combined with Powder X-Ray Diffraction

open access: yesPhyschem
Tutton salts have received considerable attention due to their potential applications in thermochemical energy storage (TCHS) systems. This technology requires high-purity materials that exhibit reversible dehydration reactions, significant variations in

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Evaluating the involvement of autolysosomes in the nuclear translocation of fluorescent proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Endogenously expressed fluorescent proteins can be degraded by autophagy and transported to cell nuclei via the nuclear pore complex. But in some cell lines, for example, HeLa cells which are positive for immunoreactivity of a receptor ligand, such as UCN I, in cell nuclei, fusion of autolysosome with the nuclear envelope is involved in the nuclear ...

in a Biphasic Solvent System

open access: yes, 2020
5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and levulinic acid (LA) are two important platform compounds that can be produced by the dehydration of hexoses from hydrolysis of cellulose. In this study, glucose dehydration was catalyzed by the SO42-/ZrO2 catalyst in the

PROPIEDADES VOLUMÉTRICAS DE LA DL-ALANINA EN SOLUCIONES ACUOSAS DE TETRAFLUOROBORATO DE 1-BUTIL, 3-METILIMIDAZOLIO A DIFERENTES TEMPERATURAS

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2016
Densities of DL-alanine in aqueous ionic liquid, 1-butyl, 3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate solutions were measured from 283.15 to 313.15 K. The densities measured were used to calculate apparent molar volumes (VΦ), apparent molar volume limits (VΦ0),

Remarkable Recovery After Delayed High‐Dose Methylprednisolone in a Rare Case of Penetrating Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) caused by sharp‐force penetration is exceptionally rare, and the use of high‐dose methylprednisolone (MP) remains highly controversial, especially beyond the conventional 8‐h treatment window. This case report describes a 30‐year‐old male with acute incomplete TSCI following a knife stab wound to the right ...
