Solvent Effects on the Formation of Surface Nanodroplets by Solvent Exchange

Langmuir, 2015
Solvent exchange is a simple process to form oil nanodroplets at solid-liquid interfaces with well-defined location and morphology. In this process, a good solvent of the oil is displaced by a poor solvent, leading to the nucleation and growth of oil droplets from a transient oversaturation at the mixing front.

The effects of the solvent

2003
This chapter focuses on the effects of the solvent. It regards solvent as a crucial component of reactions while referencing the reaction of t–butyl chloride. The rate of formation of either the substitution or elimination product depends only on the rate of the initial step.

Some solvent effects on the solvent extraction of 8-quinolinol

Talanta, 1967
The distribution constants of 8-quinolinol between water and a series of substituted aliphatic hydrocarbons, at 25 degrees , are reported. The results are discussed in terms of dielectric constant and solubility parameter of the solvents. For 8-quinolinol, and possibly for its chelates, bromochloromethane, dibromomethane and chloroform seem to be about

Industrial solvents and psychological effects

Clinics in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 2004
Organic solvents are widely used in industries for cleaning, degreasing, and other processes. The high dose neurotoxicity of occupational solvents is evident, and the existence of residual effects following lower dose exposure remains a focus of interest 30 years after initial reports of behavioral changes in painters from the Scandinavian literature ...

The effect of solvent on the α-effect: the MeCN–H2O solvent system

Chemical Communications, 2000
The increasing α-effect observed in MeCN–H2O solvent mixtures, which contrasts with the previously found bell-shaped dependence on solvent composition in the DMSO–H2O system, is attributed to the differential solvent effect on basicities of the α- and normal nucleophiles in the former case.

Solvent effects on the stability of A7U7p

Biochemistry, 1985
The thermodynamics of double-helix formation were measured spectrophotometrically for A7U7 in water at 1 M NaCl and for A7U7p in a variety of solvent mixtures and salt. Comparison of the A7U7 results with calorimetric measurements indicates duplex formation involves intermediate states.

Solvent effects on dinucleotide conformation

Journal of Molecular Biology, 1972
Abstract The effect of the addition of organic solvents and reagents on the absorption, optical rotatory dispersion and circular dichroism of ApA was investigated. The added reagents were dioxane, ethylene glycol, glycerol, dimethylsulfoxide, trimethylphosphate, guanidine hydrochloride, formamide and tetrahydrofuran.
