This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Application of the level-set method to the implicit solvation of nonpolar molecules
A level-set method is developed for numerically capturing the equilibrium solute-solvent interface that is defined by the recently proposed variational implicit solvent model (Dzubiella, Swanson, and McCammon, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 104}, 527 (2006) and J.

The Single-Parameter Bragg–Williams Model for Eutectic Solvents
The study of solid–liquid equilibria offers critical insights into the molecular interactions between constituents in binary mixtures. Predicting these equilibria often requires comprehensive thermodynamic models, yet simplified approaches can provide valuable perspectives.

Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Inherent Safety Assessment of Solvent Alternatives for Palm Oil Recovery
Solvent extraction is a method implemented with the purpose to recover the remaining oil in spent bleaching earth. n-hexane is the most commonly used solvent in solvent extraction due to its advantages such as able to easily extract the oil and can be ...

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Investigating nano-structured domains within ionic liquids: the effect of cation change on thermal equilibrium and relaxation of spiropyran and spirooxazine. [PDF]
The established belief that ionic liquids (ILs) behave as homogenous solvents such as that observed in molecular solvents has been challenged.1, 2 Previous use of solvatochromic probe dyes has allowed for the traditional parameter of ‘polarity’ to be ...

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...
