Acidic Solvolysis of Softwood in Recycled Polyethylene Glycol System

open access: yesBioResources, 2016
The acidic solvolysis of lignocellulose using a glycol solvent such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a promising process for separating its components and producing a valuable lignin product that can be used as thermoplastic and fusible materials.

A facile hydrolysis–solvolysis procedure for conjugated bile acid sulfates

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1977
Methods for hydrolyzing and solvolyzing conjugated bile acid sulfates were compared on reference mixtures of conjugated and unconjugated bile acid sulfates gas–liquid chromatography to assess recovery, and thin-layer chromatography and zonal scanning to ...

Evaluating Alternatives to Water as Solvents for Life: The Example of Sulfuric Acid

open access: yesLife, 2021
The chemistry of life requires a solvent, which for life on Earth is water. Several alternative solvents have been suggested, but there is little quantitative analysis of their suitability as solvents for life.

Analysis of 3-sulfated and nonsulfated bile acids by one-step solvolysis and high performance liquid chromatography.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1987
A facile solvolysis procedure of 3-sulfated bile acid was devised using trifluoroacetic acid, tetrahydrofuran, and methanol. The sulfate esters were completely solvolyzed within only 2 hr by the present method.

Solvolysis of Kraft Lignin to Bio-Oil: A Critical Review

open access: yesClean Technologies, 2020
Lignin, a component of lignocellulosic biomass, is abundant and is produced extensively as a waste product of the Kraft pulping process, lignin obtained from this process is called Kraft lignin (KL).

The Consistency of Yields and Chemical Composition of HTL Bio-Oils from Lignins Produced by Different Preprocessing Technologies

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
This work evaluates the effect of feedstock type and composition on the conversion of lignin to liquid by solvolysis with formic acid as hydrogen donor (LtL), by analyzing the yields and molecular composition of the liquid products and interpreting them ...

A Data Resource for Sulfuric Acid Reactivity of Organic Chemicals

open access: yesData, 2021
We describe a dataset of the quantitative reactivity of organic chemicals with concentrated sulfuric acid. As well as being a key industrial chemical, sulfuric acid is of environmental and planetary importance.

Bile acid synthesis in man. II. Determination of 7 α-hydroxycholesterol, (22R)-22-hydroxycholesterol, and 26-hydroxycholesterol in human meconium

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1977
7 α-Hydroxycholesterol, (22R)-22-hydroxycholesterol and 26-hydroxycholesterol have been quantitated in human meconium. The method used tetrahydrofuran for extraction and solvolysis of the sulfate esters, liquid partition chromatography for the separation

Recovery and Use of Recycled Carbon Fibers from Composites Based on Phenol-Formaldehyde Resins

open access: yesRecycling, 2022
The technical feasibility of the recycling of specific polymeric composite materials was evaluated. Two types of carbon composites, both with phenol-formaldehyde resin but with different reinforcement, were studied.

Solvolysis of Coal by Hydrogenated Solvent VI. Solvolysis of Canadian Coals.

open access: yesJournal of the Fuel Society of Japan, 1991
Solvolysis liquefaction of twelve Canadian coals using hydorogenated anthracene oil has been carried out using 50ml tubing bomb reactor. The coal conversion and the amounts of gaseous products were discussed with H/C atomic ratio and the chemic-al structure of coal determined by 13C solid-state NMR.
