Multi‐modality imaging strategy applied to PRV‐induced central nervous system infection enables dynamic visualization of cerebrovascular dysfunction, including hyperemia, hypoperfusion, and vascular remodeling. These changes are linked to microglial activation and impaired angiogenesis, providing mechanistic insight into PRV neuropathogenesis and ...

Nociceptive-Evoked Potentials Are Sensitive to Behaviorally Relevant Stimulus Displacements in Egocentric Coordinates. [PDF]
Feature selection has been extensively studied in the context of goal-directed behavior, where it is heavily driven by top-down factors. A more primitive version of this function is the detection of bottom-up changes in stimulus features in the ...

Effects of Foot Somatosensory Training on Plantar Somatosensory Function
Background Declines in foot somatosensory function can negatively impact balance and daily activities, particularly in older adults and individuals with neurological conditions. Despite this, effective physical therapeutic interventions to improve foot sensory function are limited. This study assessed the effects of targeted foot somatosensory training

By integrating synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A PET imaging and transcriptomics, this study identifies Rho‐associated protein kinase 2 (ROCK2) as a critical regulator of synaptic network dysfunction in temporal lobe epilepsy. Pharmacological ROCK2 inhibition restores synaptic density and enhances mitophagy, thereby reducing seizures and neuronal damage.

Subbarrel patterns in somatosensory cortical barrels can emerge from local dynamic instabilities [PDF]
Complex spatial patterning, common in the brain as well as in other biological systems, can emerge as a result of dynamic interactions that occur locally within developing structures. In the rodent somatosensory cortex, groups of neurons called "barrels"

This study establishes a mandibular asymmetry (MA) mouse model that recapitulates chronic orofacial pain and anxiety comorbidity. Anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) hyperactivation and synaptic dysfunction are identified as central neural mechanisms underlying these pathologies, with chemogenetic inhibition of ACC CaMKII+ neurons effectively reversing ...

A zebrafish and mouse model for selective pruritus via direct activation of TRPA1
Little is known about the capacity of lower vertebrates to experience itch. A screen of itch-inducing compounds (pruritogens) in zebrafish larvae yielded a single pruritogen, the TLR7 agonist imiquimod, that elicited a somatosensory neuron response ...
