Advances in Sonodynamic Therapy: Focus on Ferroptosis
Journal of Medicinal ChemistryFerroptosis is a nonapoptotic form of cell death discovered in 2012. Noninvasive treatments regulating ferroptosis are important for a wide range of diseases. Among the noninvasive treatments, sonodynamic therapy (SDT) has become promising due to its strong tissue penetration and few side effects.

Microbubble–sonosensitiser conjugates as therapeutics in sonodynamic therapy
Chemical Communications, 2012A Rose Bengal sonosensitiser has been covalently attached to a lipid microbubble and the resulting conjugate shown to produce higher levels of singlet oxygen, enhanced cytotoxicity in a cancer cell line and a greater reduction in tumour growth than the sonosensitiser alone.

Environmental Charge-Mediated Nanopiezocatalysis for Sonodynamic Therapy
Nano LettersPiezocatalysis garners growing attention in sonodynamic therapy (SDT). However, its mechanism remains controversial due to the prominent but conflicting theories of energy band and piezoelectric effect. The former just focuses on the role of carriers, while the latter emphasizes only the contribution of screening charges.
