The analysis of sonoporation metrics
2018Sonoporation (SP) is a physical modality, designed to achieve spatio-temporally controlled therapeutic agent delivery to cells and tissues. Although SP is considered to be safe, overthreshold cavitation activities can directly/ indirectly lead to cell death making SP dosimetry to be of primary importance.

The interaction of ultrasound-driven microbubbles with cells results in multifaceted cellular bioeffects including physical disruption of cell plasma membrane and subsequent downstream effects. Microbubble facilitated sonoporation, the ultrasound-induced disruption of plasma membrane, enhances the transport of ions, other intracellular contents, and ...

Sound, shells, and sonoporation
2007Ultrasound contrast agents consist of encapsulated bubbles in the micrometer size range. At low acoustic amplitudes these microbubbles pulsate linearly, at high amplitudes they demonstrate highly nonlinear, destructive behavior. Cellular drug uptake and lysis are increased under ultrasound insonification, and even more when a contrast agent is present,
