Porous Organic Polymers: From Molecular Design to Scalable Technologies

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This review introduces porous organic polymers (POPs) for a wide range of applications, including energy storage, gas adsorption, catalysts, adsorbents, biomedical applications, sensors, and other exciting fields, and critically analyzes the synthesis and modification, and how structural topology influences the composites' architecture of POPs, along ...

Metal‐Free Ternary‐Composite Aerogel Based on Graphitic Carbon Nitride, Graphene Oxide, and β‐Cyclodextrin for Synergistic Adsorption and Photodegradation of Organic Dyes

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A novel metal‐free g‐C3N4/GO/β‐CD aerogel exhibits a high adsorption capacity of 653.2 mg/g for RhB. The synergistic adsorption‐degradation effect of the aerogel enables the complete elimination of organic dyes. Fixed‐bed and recyclability tests demonstrate its potential for continuous industrial wastewater treatment.

Interplay Between Oxidation State, Intervalence Charge Transfer Transitions and Electronic Conductivity in a Series of Ru‐Based Metal–Organic Frameworks

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Ru‐based square‐grid metal–organic frameworks undergo dramatic conductivity enhancements after chemical oxidation. The mixed‐valent states exhibit the highest conductivity values, which correlate with the appearance of intervalence charge transfer bands.

Solvent‐Responsive Porous Organic Cage‐Based Membranes With Switchable Pore Openings for Molecular Sieving and Heavy Metal Recovery

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
An in situ fabricated porous organic cage membranes (PCM) exhibits reversible solvent pore switching property in response to water and methanol. Water stimulated structural rearrangement enables selective removal of Rh B and heavy metal ions (Ni2+ and Zn2+), whereas methanol stimulates the pore expansion promotes Ni2+ and Zn2+ ions recovery.

Unlocking Extra Flexibility of Soft Porous Crystals via Hydrogen Bonding Interaction for Multistep Acetylene Sorption

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Minor ligand modification in a CID‐type flexible PCP induces a fivefold increase in acetylene uptake and > 270% pore expansion. By replacing isophthalate with pyridine‐3,5‐dicarboxylate, the framework exhibits hydrogen‐bond‐assisted multistep gate‐opening behavior and selective adsorption of acetylene over other C2 hydrocarbons.
