The impacts of source structure on geodetic parameters demonstrated by the radio source 3C371

open access: yes, 2017
Closure quantities measured by very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) observations are independent of instrumental and propagation instabilities and antenna gain factors, but are sensitive to source structure.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Modelling eruptive source parameters in distributed volcanic fields

open access: yesVolcanica, 2021
Vent opening hazard models are routinely used as inputs for assessing distal volcanic hazards (lava flows, tephra fallout) in distributed volcanic fields.

Rate and distortion redundancies for universal source coding with respect to a fidelity criterion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Rissanen has shown that there exist universal noiseless codes for {Xi} with per-letter rate redundancy as low as (K log N)/2N, where N is the blocklength and K is the number of source parameters.

Unified Models of Molecular Emission from Class 0 Protostellar Outflow Sources

open access: yes, 2013
Low mass star-forming regions are more complex than the simple spherically symmetric approximation that is often assumed. We apply a more realistic infall/outflow physical model to molecular/continuum observations of three late Class 0 protostellar ...

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

A novel quantize-and-forward cooperative system : channel parameter estimation techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The Quantize and Forward cooperative communication protocol improves the reliability of data transmission by allowing a relay to forward to the destination a quantized version of the signal received from the source.

ViBe (Virtual Berlin) - Immersive Interactive 3D Urban Data Visualization - Immersive interactive 3D urban data visualization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The project investigates the possibility of visualizing open source data in a 3D interactive virtual environment. We propose a new tool, 'ViBe'. We programmed 'ViBe' using Unity for its compatibility with HTC VIVE glasses for virtual reality (VR).

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only
