Effects of heating on hydrophobicity, viscosity, and gelling properties of soy products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The co-product of soybean after oil extraction is the meal, which is rich in protein. From this meal, protein concentrate and protein isolate are prepared and are commercially available as functional ingredients. Thermal treatment is the most common step

Effect of isolation conditions on structural properties and surface behavior of soy-whey proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this study, the impact of isolation conditions on structural and surface properties at the air/water interface of soy-whey proteins (SWP) was assessed. SWP were obtained by precipitation of soy-whey (at pH 4.5 or 8.0) with acetone or ammonium sulfate.

Nutritional and Behavioral Intervention for Long‐Term Childhood Acute Leukemia Survivors With Metabolic Syndrome

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a common complication in survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic and myeloid leukemia (AL), and a major risk factor for premature cardiovascular disease, type‐2‐diabetes, and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

The effect of soy protein containing soy isoflavones on serum concentration of cell adhesion molecules: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

open access: yesComplementary Therapies in Medicine, 2021
Background: Soy protein in combination with soy isoflavones might reduce the serum concentration of inflammatory mediators. In this study, we attempted to summarize the effect of soy protein combined with soy isoflavones on circulating E-selectin ...

Prolonged Corrected QT Interval as an Early Electrocardiographic Marker of Cyclophosphamide‐Induced Cardiotoxicity in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cyclophosphamide (CY) is associated with potentially fatal cardiotoxicity, yet no electrocardiographic indices have been established for early detection of CY‐induced cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to determine whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation can predict early onset of CY‐related cardiac dysfunction in pediatric ...

Soy Protein Isolate Extruded with High Moisture Retains High Nutritional Quality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
High-moisture extrusion of soy protein isolate generates a highly palatable meat substitute. No systematic evaluation of the nutritional quality of soy processed in this manner has been performed.

Prognostic Impact of Treatment Modalities, Including Targeted Compartmental Radio‐Immunotherapy, in a Cohort of Neuroblastoma Patients With CNS Metastases at Relapse

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

PHYSICOCHEMICAL, FUNCTIONAL AND SENSORY PROPERTIES OF PROTEIN EXTRACTED FROM DESICCATED COCONUT

open access: yesCORD, 1993
Coconut protein (CNP) was extracted from desiccated coconut in 1.0 M sodium chloride (1:15), precipitated by HCI, ultra filtered, and freeze‑dried. The physicochemical, functional, and sensory characteristics of the material were compared with those of ...
